The CAMEO Dictionary of Creative Audio Terms is a dictionary of audio terminology, first published in 1980 by the Massachusetts-based Creative Audio and Music Electronics Organization (CAMEO). [1]

Overview

The CAMEO Dictionary of Creative Audio Terms contains the definitions for over 1000 terms used in the recording, amplification and electronic production of music. [2] [3] It is aimed at a non-technical audience and includes illustrations. [1] [3]

Reception

Two years after its publication, the publishers reported sales of 18,000 copies. [4] By this point, the book had been added to the reading lists for courses at over 50 universities and recording schools. [4]

A record producer is a music recording project's overall supervisor whose responsibilities can involve a range of creative and technical leadership roles. In digital recording, an audio or video signal is converted into a stream of discrete numbers representing the changes over time in air pressure for audio, or chroma and luminance values for video. This number stream is saved to a storage device. To play back a digital recording, the numbers are retrieved and converted back into their original analog audio or video forms so that they can be heard or seen.

Le Studio was a residential recording studio in the Laurentian Mountains near the town of Morin-Heights, Quebec, Canada built in 1972 by recording engineer and producer André Perry, Nick Blagona and Yaël Brandeis. The studio with a Trident console where artists recorded and stayed, was the venue for many notable Canadian and international artists, including Rush, The Police, Bee Gees, Chicago, David Bowie, April Wine and Cat Stevens and Vain. Perry described the facility as "like the United Nations. I had people from London, New York, Quebec, all over the world."

The Sesame Street Dictionary is an illustrated children's dictionary featuring Muppet characters from the popular television show Sesame Street. First published in 1980, it contains short definitions and sample sentences for around 1300 words, each accompanied by an illustration featuring a character from Sesame Street. In 1986, the dictionary was also issued as an 8-volume set under the title Big Bird's Sesame Street Dictionary. Kermit the Frog's nephew, Robin the Frog makes a cameo in this book on the page "frogs", also Miss Piggy makes a cameo in the book on the page "magazines" on a book called "Stars".

Live at Redlands University is a double live album by American jazz musician Stan Kenton and his orchestra, released in late 1970 by Creative World Records. It was the initial release on Kenton's newly formed record company after he broke his relationship with Capitol Records. Recording for the album took place in Southern California at Redlands University in August of 1970.
