The Swedish Academy, founded in 1786 by King Gustav III, is one of the Royal Academies of Sweden. Its 18 members, who are elected for life, comprise the highest Swedish language authority. Outside Scandinavia, it is best known as the body that chooses the laureates for the annual Nobel Prize in Literature, awarded in memory of the donor Alfred Nobel.

Since the beginning of his career in 1983, Ranelid has published twenty novels and written about five hundred articles in different magazines and newspapers. Marit Eli Paulsen was a Norwegian-born Swedish journalist, author and politician for the Liberals. She was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1999 to 2004 and from 2009 to 2015. She was a well-known figure in the Swedish public debate on environmental and food quality issues, initially as a non-partisan, and was an avid proponent of Swedish membership in the European Union during the EU membership referendum campaign in 1994.
Jonas Hassen Khemiri is a Swedish writer. He is the author of six novels, seven plays, and a collection of essays, short stories and plays. His work has been translated into more than 25 languages. He has received the August Prize for fiction and a Village Voice Obie Award for best script. In 2017 he became the first Swedish writer to have a short story published in the New Yorker. Khemiri's novel The Family Clause (FSG) was awarded the French Prix Médicis and was a finalist for the National Book Award. Khemiri moved to New York in 2021 for a Cullman Fellowship at The New York Public Library and currently teaches in the Creative Writing program at NYU. In 2023 he was a Ben Belitt Distinguished Visiting Writer at Bennington College.
Sara Bergmark Elfgren is a Swedish writer and screenwriter. Her first novel, Cirkeln, and the sequels Eld (Fire) and Nyckeln, were written together with Mats Strandberg and published in 2011–2013. Cirkeln was an August Prize nominee in the youth literature category. The books have been translated into 25 languages.

Fire is the second part of the Engelsfors trilogy by Mats Strandberg and Sara Bergmark Elfgren and the sequel to Cirkeln. It takes place about 10 weeks after the events of the first novel. It follows the same fantasy like the first and further develops themes of horror fiction, psychological realism and an unreliable narrator(s). The plot also makes analogies to the effects of global warming on Sweden's subarctic climate and the group behaviour dynamics of political, religious and ideological extremist groups.
Engelsfors is a Swedish young adult fantasy trilogy written by Mats Strandberg and Sara Bergmark Elfgren. All three novels in the series have been translated into English.
Katarina Margareta Spång, more known under the name Mimmi Spång, is a Swedish film producer and production manager. She has been involved with and produced several films, notably the Swedish productions Sebbe and Call Girl.
The Circle is a Swedish fantasy directed and co-written by Levan Akin, based on the best-selling novel The Circle by Sara Bergmark Elfgren and Mats Strandberg, the former of whom also co-wrote the screenplay. It was produced and scored by ABBA member Benny Andersson. The film was intended to be the first in an trilogy of films based on Engelsfors, though plans of the sequels have been cancelled. A film adaptation was to be produced by Filmlance in 2013, with Levan Akin set to direct and Bergmark Elfgren as script writer. The production was put on hold due to disagreements between the authors and Filmlance. Akin left the project as well. Benny Andersson's son Ludvig brought the novel to his attention and he bought the rights to produce the film, more faithfully than Filmlance intended, however the film still has significant differences from the original novel. Open castings for young girls who could play the leads were held all over Sweden.

Idol 2020 was the sixteenth season of the Swedish Idol series. Like earlier seasons, the season was broadcast on TV4. New for this year is that one person got to audition for this season already during the final of Idol 2019 in Globen, Rebecka Assio made it through to the final audition in Stockholm.
The Robespierre Prize is a Swedish cultural award, which is given out annually since 2010 and is funded by Lasse Diding. The prize rewards a younger Swedish writer or artist who works in a critical spirit. In the years 2010–2017, the award winner was chosen by the Jan Myrdal Society. In 2010–2015, the Robespierre Prize was called "Jan Myrdal's small prize – the Robespierre Prize".

Molly Majbritt Emilia Johnson was a Swedish novelist from Hofors who was brought up in a working-class family. She made her debut with Pansarkryssaren when she was just 24. Inspired by Sergei Eisenstein's silent film Battleship Potemkin, it tells the story of a spontaneous rebellion on a ship travelling to an industrial town in Sweden and has been described as a "modern classic". Apart from a children's book in 1956, it took thirty years before she published her second novel Morbror Anders in 1984. Johnson also contributed articles to newspapers and journals.
