The Holy Fire is an indie rock band from Detroit, Michigan.
The Holy Fire was formed in 2004 after a studio session that produced the group's debut self-titled EP. Reviewing the band's debut EP, Real Detroit Weekly wrote, "This EP redefines what a Detroit rock band should sound like," while Punk Planet gave the EP high praise. Alternative Press also praised the EP, comparing it to Husker Du and Jawbox.
In 2006, The Holy Fire signed to the Sony/BMG-distributed southern California label The Militia Group. Their second EP In the Name of the World was released on February 21, 2006, and produced by The Flaming Lips bassist Michael Ivins. The band broke up after playing South By Southwest during their 2006 tour to support the EP. Two months prior to their breakup, the band had been featured on the cover of Detroit's Metro Times.
All Music Guide's James Christopher Monger gave the In The Name of the World EP the following review: "Melodic post-rockers the Holy Fire followed up their independent 2004 debut EP with another EP, this time for the Southern California indie imprint The Militia Group. Produced by Flaming Lip Michael Ivins, In the Name of the World is tightly wound, emotive, and succinct in its commercial aspirations without sacrificing any of the Detroit collective's signature volatility. Ivins, a bass player by trade, has fortified the songs' foundations in a way that allows each track to succeed on both a musical and muscular level, allowing standout cuts like "Bombs in the Distance" and "Raised on Planes" the room to pound away at the skull before engaging the brain. Vocalist/guitarist Sean Hoen channels everyone from Jeremy Enigk to Robin Zander, giving a lyric like "Kiss me right here with your mouth/All sick from smoke and beer" a necessary dose of desperation and transcendence, the latter of which the Holy Fire seemed destined to achieve."
The band performed concerts with a number of indie acts, including: TV on the Radio, The Constantines, and Metric.
The Holy Fire included members of Leaving Rouge and the late hardcore band Thoughts of Ionesco. Members went on to play in Your Skull My Closet. Singer/guitarist Sean Hoen recorded a solo album called The Liquor Witch. It was released by Portland's Greyday Productions in 2007.

The Flaming Lips are an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The band currently consists of Wayne Coyne, Steven Drozd, Derek Brown, Matt Duckworth Kirksey and Nicholas Ley. Following the departure of long-time bassist Michael Ivins in 2021, Coyne has remained the band's sole consistent member.
Sean Taro Ono Lennon is an American–British musician, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and half-brother to Julian Lennon. Over the course of his career, he has been a member of the bands Cibo Matto, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, The Claypool Lennon Delirium and his parents' group Plastic Ono Band. He has released two solo albums: Into the Sun (1998) and Friendly Fire (2006). He has produced numerous albums for various artists, including Black Lips and the Plastic Ono Band.

Zaireeka is the eighth studio album by American rock band The Flaming Lips, released on October 28, 1997, by Warner Bros. Records. The album consists of four CDs designed so that when played simultaneously on four separate audio systems, they would produce a harmonic or juxtaposed sound; the discs could also be played in different combinations, omitting one, two or three discs. Each of its eight songs consists of four stereo tracks, one from each CD. The album's title is a portmanteau of two words: Zaire, chosen as a symbol of anarchy after Wayne Coyne heard a radio news story about the political instability of the African nation, and Eureka, an expression of joyous discovery.
Mark Coyne is an American musician and one of the original members of the rock band the Flaming Lips. Coyne co-founded the group along with his brother Wayne in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1983. The original lineup of the Flaming Lips was Mark on lead vocals, Wayne on guitar, and Michael Ivins on bass. Mark left the band in 1985 around the time of his wedding. Upon Mark's departure, Wayne assumed lead vocalist and songwriting duties.

Hit to Death in the Future Head is the fifth studio album by American rock band the Flaming Lips, released on August 11, 1992, by Warner Bros. Records. "Talkin' 'Bout the Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues " was released as the lead track on the EP Yeah, I Know It's a Drag... But Wastin' Pigs Is Still Radical to promote the album. The title provided the inspiration for the name of the British band the Futureheads.
"Do You Realize??" is a song by the Flaming Lips, released as the first single from their 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. It is widely considered to be one of the group's most accessible and popular songs. It reached No. 32 in the UK Singles Chart and was adopted as the Official Rock Song of Oklahoma from 2009 to April 2013. The song was ranked No. 31 on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Songs of the 2000s. It is also the band's most popular live song, and has rarely been excluded from setlists since its inception into their live shows in 2002. Wayne Coyne also considers it to be the best song they've ever written.

The Flaming Lips with Neon Indian is an extended play by American rock band the Flaming Lips and American electronic music band Neon Indian. It was released on March 23, 2011 as part of The Flaming Lips 2011 series of monthly music releases. The 12-inch EP was a limited release pressed on special colored vinyl and distributed to select record stores in the United States. The song "Is David Bowie Dying?" was later included on the 2012 album The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends.
Gummy Song Skull is an EP released by The Flaming Lips as part of the Flaming Lips 2011 series of monthly music releases. This was a limited release contained on a USB keydrive and placed inside a brain-shaped gummy which was further encased in a gummy skull. The EP was only sold in a few record stores in the US, at a price of $150. It has yet to be officially released on any other format.
Nicholas Thomas Marko is an American musician, known for being a multi-instrumentalist, playing the guitar, drums and piano for bands such as The Holy Fire, Singer & Soldier, Leaving Rouge, and Levagood in the 2000s and 2010s. He is also an entrepreneur, having started up the company ALP Music, LLC in 2010.

It is the final studio album to feature founding bass guitarist Michael Ivins and keyboardist Jake Ingalls, who both departed from the band in 2021.
