The Home Game (Icelandic : Heimaleikurinn) is an Icelandic sports documentary directed by Smari Gunn and Logi Sigursveinsson. [1]
The film premiered at Skjaldborg Film Festival on 30 May 2023.
The film follows the journey of man's attempt to fulfill his father's dream; to gather a team of local people to play a long-awaited inaugural match on a football field that the father had built in the small fishing village of Hellissandur 25 years before. [2] [3]
In May 2023, the film won the Einarinn Audience Award at the Skjaldborg documentary film festival in Iceland. [4] In September 2023, it won the City of Malmö's Audience Award at the Nordisk Panorama Film Festival. [5]
In March 2024, it won the Audience award at the Glasgow Film Festival. [6] [7]
The Home Game was named Documentary of the Year in Iceland by the readers of Klapptré. [8]
Knattspyrnufélagið Valur is an Icelandic multi-sport club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. The club is situated close to the city center, in the east side of town, on the former farmland of Hlíðarendi. The club was originally formed as part of the local YMCA to play association football, but later incorporated handball and basketball. Valur's handball section reached the EHF Champions League final in 1980. It has won the Icelandic league 22 times, more than any other Icelandic handball team.

Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir is an Icelandic actress and television presenter who is the assistant director of RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster. She is a former Miss Iceland.
Ungmennafélagið Fjölnir, commonly known as Fjölnir, is a multi-sport club from Iceland. The club is located in Grafarvogur, Reykjavík. The club was founded in 1988 under the original name Ungmennafélagið Grafarvogur; however, because another team already had the abbreviation UMFG, the name was changed to Ungmennafélagið Fjölnir, commonly referred to as Fjölnir. A total of nine sports are practised at the club: football, basketball, handball, taekwondo, karate, tennis, swimming, athletics and gymnastics. Chess is also played at the club. Each one of these sports has their own department with their own board but all are under the main board and the club office.
Sif Atladóttir is an Icelandic former footballer and a former member of the Iceland women's national team. During her career, she won the Icelandic Championship three years in a row with Valur, from 2007 to 2009.

Harpa is a concert hall and conference centre in Reykjavík, Iceland. The opening concert was held on 4 May 2011. The building features a distinctive colored glass facade inspired by the basalt landscape of Iceland.
Bjarni Felixson, commonly known as Bjarni Fel, was an Icelandic footballer, sports reporter and commentator. Nicknamed The Red Lion due to his red hair, he won six caps for the Iceland national team between 1962 and 1964. He played for Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur for several seasons, winning the national championship five times and the Icelandic Cup seven times. Following his playing career, he became a sports reporter and commentator for RÚV for 42 years.
Kristófer Acox is an Icelandic basketball player for Valur of the Úrvalsdeild karla and a member of the Icelandic national basketball team, with whom he participated in the EuroBasket 2017. As a member of KR, he won the Icelandic championship three times in a row from 2017 to 2019. In 2022, he added his fourth championship, this time with Valur and in 2023, he won the Icelandic Cup for the first time.
Helena Sverrisdóttir is an Icelandic former basketball player. Generally considered the greatest Icelandic female basketball player of all time, she was named the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year 12 times. During her playing career, she won the Icelandic championship five times and the Slovak championship two times.
Heimir Guðjónsson is an Icelandic football manager and a former player. As a player, he was deployed in midfield and represented the Iceland national team. As a manager, he won the Icelandic championship five times with Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar.

The Valur women's football team, commonly known as Valur, is the women's football department of the Valur multi-sport club. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland, and currently plays in the Besta deild kvenna, the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. The team plays its home games at Hlíðarendi located in Reykjavík. The team's colors are red and white.

Sara Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir is an Icelandic actress. She has had major roles in a number of Icelandic films and TV series, and in 2013 won the Edda Award for Best Leading Actress for Pressa.
Blackport is an Icelandic television drama miniseries, written by Gísli Örn Garðarsson, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson and Mikael Torfason and produced by Vesturport in association with RÚV. The first episode of the eight part series premiered on the RÚV on 26 December 2021.
