The Land of Nod, now known as Crate&Kids, was a catalog, internet, and retail store company, based in Northbrook, Illinois, [1] specializing in children's furniture, bedding, and accessories.

Scott Eirinberg and Jamie Cohen launched the company in 1996 out of Eirinberg's basement in the Chicago suburbs. [2] In 2000, The Land of Nod formed an equity partnership with Crate & Barrel to help expand their presence in the United States market. [2] In 2010, Eirinberg left the company and in February 2011, Cohen left the company. [3]

The store, which has been owned by Crate and Barrel since 2001, [1] was made available online starting April 4, 2018.

The company was founded in September 1990 by Jeffrey and Morty Seaman, when they sold Seaman Furniture Company. Design Research (store)

Design Research was a retail store founded in 1953 by Ben Thompson in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and which introduced the concept of lifestyle store. In the 1970s under subsequent ownership, it became a chain of a dozen stores across the United States, but went bankrupt in 1978. Thompson's goal was to provide "a place where people could buy everything they needed for contemporary living", notably modern European furnishings and in particular Scandinavian design.

John V. Farwell & Co. was a department store in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The store's history traces back to 1836, when the Wadsworth brothers came to Chicago to sell goods. E. S. Wadsworth eventually formed a partnership with Thomas Dyer and John Putnam Chapin as Wadsworth, Dyer & Chapin. Following a series of ownership changes, the company fell under the executive control of John Villiers Farwell, for whom the company was renamed. A profitable clothing store, Philip Wadsworth & Co., was later spun off from the company. John V. Farwell & Co. was the most successful store in the city until the 1871 Great Chicago Fire. The store continued to operate after the fire, but faced stiff competition from former partners Marshall Field and Levi Leiter. It was purchased by Carson, Pirie & Co. in 1926.

Barbara Turf was an American business executive and former schoolteacher who served as the CEO of Crate & Barrel, a houseware and furniture retail chain, from 2008 until 2012. Crate & Barrel is headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois.

Cracker Barrel American restaurant company

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. is an American chain of restaurant and gift stores with a Southern country theme. The company was founded by Dan Evins in 1969; its first store was in Lebanon, Tennessee. The corporate offices are located at a different facility in the same city. The chain's stores were at first positioned near Interstate Highway exits in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States, but expanded across the country during the 1990s and 2000s. As of September 16, 2020, the chain operates 663 stores in 45 states.
