The Black Phone is a 2021 American supernatural horror film directed by Scott Derrickson from a screenplay coauthored with longtime collaborator C. Robert Cargill. Afterward is a repeatedly announced American thriller drama film that was supposed to be written and directed by Dito Montiel. The film was supposed to star Aaron Eckhart, Terrence Howard, and George Lopez. Announced in 2019, with director Montiel, and Eckhart, Howard and Lopez attached, filming was finally announced in March 2020, and then delayed to Spring 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire production went silent until September 2023, when the original slate of participants were gone and director Amin Matalqa and actress Beverly D'Angelo were attached, with filming expected to begin in October and November 2023.
