The New Grand were a Canadian indie rock band [1] from London, Ontario. Known for their explosive live shows[ citation needed ], they released two full-length albums on Sonic Unyon Records.
Original members Michael P. Clive, Tim Smith, and Pat Morgan met in high school in the early 1990s. They were joined by guitarist Malcolm Scott in the fall of 1995 just prior to recording their first full-length album. [2]
The New Grand, an album of energetic pop songs, [3] was recorded with Brendan McGuire behind the board and released in 1996 on Sonic Unyon Records. The album was met with fair reviews and modest sales. Steady shows in Southwestern Ontario, industry shows in New York, Toronto, and Austin, and a cross-Canada tour with Treble Charger followed. A video for "The Get Up" received modest rotation on Much Music.
The New Grand released their second album on Sonic Unyon in 1998 entitled Incognito. [4] Incognito was recorded in Calgary, AB at Sundae Sound with Dave Alcock (Chixdiggit) producing. That year the band performed at the South by South West festival in Austin, Texas. [5]
The band's track "Yours Truly", was included on Squirtgun Records' compilation album More Of Our Stupid Noise. [6]
The New Grand disbanded in 2000 but reunited for a one-off show at Call the Office in October 2003 for a CHRW benefit concert.
Eric's Trip is a Canadian indie rock band from Moncton, New Brunswick. Eric's Trip achieved prominence as the first Canadian band to be signed to Seattle's flagship grunge label Sub Pop in the early 1990s. The band had a minor hit in alternative circles with the single "View Master", from the 1994 album Forever Again.
Treble Charger is a Canadian rock band formed in 1992 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Greig Nori, vocalist and guitarist Bill Priddle, bassist Rosie Martin and drummer Richard Mulligan. They began with a melodic indie rock style but evolved into more of a pop punk band after signing to a major label in 1997. They disbanded in 2006 and reunited in 2012. Between 1996 and 2016, Treble Charger was among the Top 150 selling Canadian artists in Canada.
Paul Hayden Desser, who records as Hayden, is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Thornhill, Ontario.
Change of Heart was a Canadian alternative rock band, active from 1982 to 1997. They had one Top 40 hit, "There You Go" in 1992, as well as several hits on Canada's modern rock charts, including "Trigger" and "Little Kingdoms".

Sonic Unyon Recording Company is an independent record label based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Their former retail store was located on Wilson Street near James Street North. The label has put out releases by bands including Tristan Psionic, Sianspheric, Shallow North Dakota, Eric's Trip, Hayden, Chore, Frank Black and the Catholics, A Northern Chorus, Raising the Fawn, Teenage Head and Voivod.
Clayton Park is the second full-length album by Canadian rock band Thrush Hermit. It was released on Sonic Unyon in 1999, and is the last album they released as a band. The album produced two singles and videos for the songs "From the Back of the Film" and "The Day We Hit the Coast".
Smoother was a Canadian rock band from Hamilton, Ontario, headed by lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Andrew Franey. Members included Beau Cook on bass and vocals, keyboardist James Flemings-Strange, drummer Adam Benning and Todd Knight on guitar and vocals.

Friends in Bellwoods is a compilation album, released in 2007. It was the first release on Out of This Spark, through a distribution deal with Sonic Unyon Records. The album is named for a house on Bellwoods Avenue in Toronto, shared by two members of the band Ohbijou, which NOW has written "might just be the new epicentre of T.O.'s indie rock community". All of the featured artists are members or friends and collaborators of Ohbijou, and many of the tracks on the album were recorded in the house itself.
Poledo was a Canadian alternative rock band based in Thornhill, Ontario, consisting of vocalist and bassist Joshua Malinsky, vocalist and guitarist Mitch Roth and drummer Dave Capogna, Their music is characterized by loud, heavily distorted guitar riffs and screamed lyrics.
Mayor McCa is a Canadian musician, writer, cartoonist, animator, actor and onetime mayoral candidate from Hamilton, Ontario. He mostly performs as a one-man band. Mayor McCa currently lives and performs in London, England.

Shallow North Dakota was a Canadian noise rock/sludge metal band from Hamilton, Ontario. The band was well-know known for its loud, aggressive music and live shows, which often included destroying stage equipment.
Kitchens & Bathrooms were a Canadian indie math punk rock band based in Hamilton, Ontario. Ongoing members of the band were Phil Williams, Lee Penrose, Adrian Murchison (bass).
