The Opposite of Fate: A Book of Musings is a 2003 memoir by Amy Tan. It is a collection of essays about her life, family, and influences.
Publishers Weekly called it a "robust book" and wrote "this is a powerful collection that should enthrall readers of The Joy Luck Club and Tan's other novels." [1] Kirkus Reviews wrote "her prose is thoughtful, never maudlin or self-pitying. Tan writes as easily and unpretentiously about herself as about others." and described it as "An examined life recalled with wisdom and grace." [2]

Amy Myers is a British mystery writer. She is best known for her Marsh and Daughter mystery series, featuring a writing team consisting of a wheel-chair bound ex-policeman and his daughter, and for another series, featuring a Victorian era chef, Auguste Didier. Myers' books have been favourably reviewed in Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, Booklist, and Kirkus Reviews. Myers has also been published many times in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. Janet Hutchings, the magazine's longtime editor, called Myers "one of our best and most frequent contributors of historicals".
Lucha Corpi is a Chicana poet and mystery writer. She was born on April 13, 1945, in Jaltipan, Veracruz, Mexico. In 1975 she earned a B.A. in comparative literature from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1979 she earned a M.A. in comparative literature from San Francisco State University. Corpi's most important contribution to Chicano literature, a series of four poems called "The Marina Poems", appeared in the anthology The Other Voice: Twentieth-Century Women's Poetry in Translation, which was published by W. W. Norton & Company, in 1976 (ISBN 9780393044218).
