The Peep Tempel was a punk rock band from Melbourne, Australia. The band's line-up for most of its tenure was Blake Scott (vocals, guitar), Steven Carter (drums) and Stewart Rayner (bass guitar). The band released three studio albums: The Peep Tempel (2012), Tales (2014) and Joy (2016).
The Peep Tempel was formed in 2008 as a two-piece by singer-songwriter Blake Scott and drummer Steven Carter who were neighbours at the time. [1] As a two-piece, the band recorded in their own home studio and released two 7-inch singles through the imprint Wing Sing. The band's name came from a strip club in Vienna. [2] [3]
In late 2011, Stewart Rayner joined the band to play bass guitar and during 2012 the band toured both in Australia and Europe as a three-piece. [4] [5]
In 2011 The Peep Tempel invited Matthew Duffy, who had recorded the band's first two singles along with Clinton Kraus, to join the band to play bass guitar for their debut studio album. The Peep Tempel recorded and released their debut album The Peep Tempel in 2012 through Wing Sing. The Peep Tempel was nominated in the category of Best Independent Hard Rock or Punk Album at the AIR Awards of 2012. [6] [7]
In 2013, the band recorded the EP Modern Professional, which was released through Wing Sing in June 2013. [8]
In 2014 the band recorded their second studio album Tales, which was released through Wing Sing in October 2014. [9] Tales was shortlisted for the 2014 Australian Music Prize and nominated in the category of Best Independent Hard Rock, Heavy or Punk Album at the AIR Awards of 2015. [10] [11] [12]
"Carol," a song featured on Tales, was shortlisted for the 2014 Song of the Year APRA Awards (Australia) and nominated in the category of Best Song at the Music Victoria Awards of 2015. [13] [14]
In 2016, The Peep Tempel recorded their third album Joy at Sing Sing Studios with Anna Laverty. The album was released 14 October 2016. [15] The band played their final shows in 2017 before entering an indefinite hiatus.
Since the band's hiatus, Carter and Rayner have formed a new band, Shepparton Airplane. Scott, meanwhile, released his debut solo album Niscitam in October 2020.
In February 2024, Peep Tempel reformed to headline OK Motels, a festival in the Victorian town of Charlton. [16]

The John Butler Trio were an Australian roots-rock band led by guitarist and vocalist John Butler, an APRA and ARIA-award-winning musician. They formed in Fremantle in 1998 with Jason McGann on drums, Gavin Shoesmith on bass and John Butler on vocals. By 2009, the trio consisted of Butler with Byron Luiters on bass and Nicky Bomba on drums and percussion, the latter being replaced by Grant Gerathy in 2013. After both Luiters and Gerathy exited the trio in early 2019, bassist OJ Newcomb and drummer Terepai Richmond joined the band, accompanied by touring musician Elana Stone on keyboards, percussion and backing vocals.
Archibald William Roach was an Australian singer-songwriter and Aboriginal activist. Often referred to as "Uncle Archie", Roach was a Gunditjmara and Bundjalung elder who campaigned for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. His wife and musical partner was the singer Ruby Hunter (1955–2010).
The Drones were an Australian rock band, formed in Perth by mainstay lead vocalist and guitarist Gareth Liddiard in 1997. Fiona Kitschin, his domestic partner, joined on bass guitar and vocals in 2002. Other long-term members include Rui Pereira on bass guitar and then lead guitar; Mike Noga on drums, vocals, harmonica and percussion; and Dan Luscombe on lead guitar, vocals and keyboards. Their second album, Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By, won the inaugural Australian Music Prize. In October 2010 their third studio album, Gala Mill was listed at No. 21 in the book, 100 Best Australian Albums. Two of their albums have reached the top 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart, I See Seaweed and Feelin Kinda Free. The group went on hiatus in December 2016 with Kitschin and Liddiard forming a new group, Tropical Fuck Storm, in the following year.
Kate Melina Miller-Heidke is an Australian singer and songwriter. Although classically trained, she has generally followed a career in alternative pop music. She signed to Sony Australia, Epic in the US and RCA in the UK, but since 2014 has been an independent artist. Four of her solo studio albums have peaked in the top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart, Curiouser, Nightflight, O Vertigo! and Child in Reverse. Her most popular single, "The Last Day on Earth", reached No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart after being used in promos for TV soap, Neighbours, earlier in that year. At the ARIA Music Awards Miller-Heidke has been nominated 17 times.

Gareth Liddiard is an Australian musician, best known as a founding member of both The Drones and Tropical Fuck Storm. Musically active since 1997, he has also released a solo album titled Strange Tourist in 2010. In 2021, Liddiard recorded and performed live with Jim White of the Dirty Three and Chris Abrahams of The Necks as Springtime.
Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, commonly known as Gurrumul and also referred to since his death as Dr G. Yunupingu, was a Yolŋu Aboriginal Australian musician. A multi-instrumentalist, he played drums, keyboards, guitar and didgeridoo, but it was the clarity of his singing voice that attracted rave reviews. He sang stories of his land both in Yolŋu languages such as Gaalpu, Gumatj or Djambarrpuynu, a dialect related to Gumatj, and in English. He began his career as a member of Yothu Yindi and later Saltwater Band, and his solo career brought him wider acclaim He was the most commercially successful Aboriginal Australian musician at the time of his death. As of 2020, it is estimated that Yunupingu has sold half a million records globally.
Frank Yamma is a singer and songwriter from Central Australia. He is a Pitjantjatjara man who speaks five languages and sings in both Pitjantjatjara and English. Yamma is the son of Isaac Yamma, an early artist who pioneered singing Western style songs in traditional language. He is Regarded as one of Australia's most important indigenous songwriters.
Daniel Leo Sultan is an Australian alternative rock singer-songwriter and guitarist, actor and author. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 he won Best Male Artist and Best Blues & Roots Album for his second album, Get Out While You Can. At the 2014 ceremony he won Best Rock Album for Blackbird, which had reached number four on the ARIA Albums Chart. In 2017, Sultan's record Killer was nominated for three ARIA awards: Best Male Artist, Best Rock Album, and Best Independent Release. Sultan's debut children's music album Nali & Friends was named Best Children's Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 2019.
Boy & Bear are an Australian indie folk band formed in 2009, consisting of David Hosking, Killian Gavin, Tim Hart, Jonathan Hart, and David Symes (bass). The band has released two EPs and five studio albums. The first two albums, Moonfire and Harlequin Dream, reached the top ten of the Australian albums chart. Their third album, Limit of Love, was released on 9 October 2015, in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Canada, and on 30 October in the UK and Europe. On 27 September 2019, after a four-year break, they released their long-awaited fourth studio album, Suck on Light. After yet another break between 2020 and 2022 due to the COVID pandemic, the band finally released their self-titled fifth studio album on 26 May 2023.

Mojo Ruiz de Luzuriaga, known professionally as Mo'Ju and previously as Mojo Juju, is an Australian musician, best known for their 2018 album Native Tongue and the lead single of the same title. The single won the Best Independent Single category in the 2019 AIR Awards. They play guitar and piano, write songs and sing, and have created music in a number of genres.
D.D Dumbo was the solo project of the Australian, Castlemaine-based musician, Oliver Hugh Perry, who began the project in 2013 with the release of his self-titled debut EP Tropical Oceans, released by The Blue Rider in 2013 and later re-released by 4AD in 2014. The EP received positive reviews and from here, Perry was invited to attend South by Southwest in the same year, where he was signed by 4AD. Perry also supported Warpaint, Tune-Yards, St. Vincent, Jungle and Iron & Wine in 2013.
