The Pill Gallery is a contemporary art gallery based in the historical peninsula of Istanbul, Turkey. It was founded and is directed by Suela Cennet, operating as a platform that brings together local and international artists. [1]
The Pill was founded in January 2016 by Suela Cennet who had previously worked with Daniel Templon in Paris and Brussels. [2] Its inaugural exhibition was a solo presentation by French artist Daniel Firman, followed by a solo presentation by Eva Nielsen. [2] [3]
Since its opening, the gallery has established itself as one of the "most influential" players in the region and a "reference to discover the emerging artistic scene". [4] It was featured in the Istanbul City guides published by Phaidon for Wallpaper as well as Louis Vuitton as one of the most cutting-edge galleries in the city. [5] [6]
The Pill was among the institutional partners of Bourse Emerige Révélations in 2017 and 2018, a prize and long-term support mechanism for emerging French artists. [7] [8] It has participated in leading international art fairs such as ARCO Madrid, Material Art Fair Mexico City, Expo Chicago, Untitled Miami, 1:54 New York, Art-O-Rama Marseille, Paris Photo, FIAC Paris and Contemporary Istanbul. The Pill's art fair participation has been awarded multiple times, winning the Opening Award for best stand at ARCO Madrid 2021 [9] and Best Booth Design Award for Contemporary Istanbul in 2016. [10] Its participation at Future Fair 2021, New York, was deemed "standout" by multiple reviews. [11] [12]
In 2022, "New Art Scales", a book revisiting the gallery's first seven years of programming, was published by JBE Books with contributions by art critic Ingrid Luquet-Gad and Suela Cennet. [13]

Juergen Teller is a German fine-art and fashion photographer. He was awarded the Citibank Prize for Photography in 2003 and received the Special Presentation International Center of Photography Infinity Award in 2018.
Iwona Maria Blazwick OBE is a British art critic and lecturer. She is currently the Chair of the Royal Commission for Al-'Ula’s Public Art Expert Panel. She was the Director of the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London from 2001 to 2022. She discovered Damien Hirst and staged his first solo show at a public London art gallery, Institute of Contemporary Arts in 1992. She supports the careers of young artists.
Jean "Johnny" Pigozzi, heir to the CEO of the automobile brand Simca, is an art collector, photographer and fashion designer. He lives in Geneva.
Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset have worked together as an artist duo since 1995. Their work explores the relationship between art, architecture and design.

Sachiko Kodama is a Japanese artist. She is best known for her artwork using ferrofluid, a dark colloidal suspension of magnetic nano-particles dispersed in solution which remains strongly magnetic in its fluid. By controlling the fluid with a magnetic field, it is formed to create complex 3-dimensional shapes as a "liquid sculpture".
RETNA is a contemporary artist, primarily recognized for graffiti art. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and started his career in the early 1990s. He developed a distinctive constructed script which is derived from Blackletter, Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Arabic, and Hebrew calligraphy, as well as more traditional types of street-based graffiti. In addition to exhibiting at institutions and galleries in Los Angeles, Miami, London, New York and Hong Kong, Retna has done advertising work for brands such as VistaJet, Louis Vuitton, and Nike. His artwork adorns the cover of Justin Bieber's Purpose album that debuted in 2015. Retna has many high profile patrons, including fast food magnate Sam Nazarian.
Oliver Beer is a British artist who lives and works between London and Paris. He makes sculptures, installations, videos, and immersive live performances.
Peter Marino is an American architect and Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He is the principal of Peter Marino Architect PLLC, an architecture and design firm which he founded in 1978. The firm is based in New York City with 160 employees and offices in Philadelphia and Southampton.
Firoz Mahmud is a Bangladeshi visual artist based in Japan. He was the first Bangladeshi fellow artist in research at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Mahmud's work has been exhibited at the following biennales: Sharjah Biennale, the first Bangkok Art Biennale, at the Dhaka Art Summit, Setouchi Triennale (BDP), the first Aichi Triennial, the Congo Biennale, the first Lahore Biennale, the Cairo Biennale, the Echigo-Tsumari Triennial, and the Asian Biennale.

Felipe Pantone is an Argentine-Spanish contemporary artist. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and raised in southeast Spain. Pantone's body of work is based in kinetic art, installations, graffiti, and design, characterized by «use of bold colors, geometrical patterns, and Op Art elements». His combinations recall «bright colored typography, 80s Synth pop music, and SMPTE color bars on the TV».
Juana Domínguez known as Juana de Aizpuru is a Spanish art gallerist, a pioneer of contemporary art collecting in Spain.

Leopoldo D'Angelo, better known by the pseudonym "Dangiuz" is an Italian contemporary visual artist, digital artist and art director specializing in sci-fi themes. His work has been featured in art networks, books, TV channels and magazines such as RAI, Arte, Wallpaper*, NVIDIA Studio Standouts, Juxtapoz Magazine, Sohu, Pixiv and Digital Production, and showcased in various museums and galleries worldwide. He also took part in the creation of Rui Hachimura's Cherry Blossom kimono design and Maserati's MC20 concept art.

Jose Dávila is a Mexican multidisciplinary artist. Mainly a sculptor, Dávila also works with two-dimensional media such as painting, drawing and prints. His work encompasses different topics and concepts such as the tradition of modernism in the arts, notions of balance and equilibrium manifested through sculptural creation and the politics of representation and recognition within visual cultures. Dávila currently lives and works in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Rafa Macarrón is a Spanish artist known for his paintings of idiosyncratic humanoid characters in bright colors and dream-like compositions. He is self-taught.
Eva Nielsen is a French-Danish visual artist who currently lives and works in Paris. She is known for mixing screen-printing techniques with oil and ink on canvas to create large paintings of contemporary suburban landscapes.
Suela Cennet is the founder and executive director of The Pill, a contemporary art gallery based in Istanbul. Seen as a trailblazer gallerist, she debuted the careers and produced exhibitions of artists such as Apolonia Sokol, Soufiane Ababri, Eva Nielsen, Marion Verboom giving the gallery's program a strong connection with feminisms and notions of history, memory, displacement, domination, gender and race.
