The Playtones is a Swedish band formed in 2008 in Kallinge which plays 1950s-style rock and roll. Their music is influenced by rockabilly. It was called Boppin' Steve & The Playtones before 2008.

Contents

The Playtones won the dansband competition Dansbandskampen in 2009. [1] In 2011 the band appeared in Melodifestivalen, the Swedish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. [2]

"Eloise" is a Swedish-language song written by Gert Lengstrand and Lasse Holm and performed by Swedish dansband Arvingarna. It won the Melodifestivalen 1993 and finished 7th in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993, where it represented Sweden. The country had been one of the favourites to win that year. The highest sets of points, 10, came from Belgium, Austria and Israel, adding up to a total of 89 points.

Miss Decibel, written by Lasse Holm and Gert Lengstrand, is a song in Swedish, which finished 2nd at the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1978. It was performed by the Swedish "dansband" Wizex, back then including Kikki Danielsson as lead vocal singer, together with Lasse Holm. The song, which lyrical describes about a little singing-screaming girl and her parents who see her screaming abilities as an opportunity to become a singing star in the future, ends with a refrain in English including the words "Decibel, you gonna be a star".

Dansbandskampen is a television show established by Peter Settman and his production company Baluba. Peter Settman is also the show host. The show is broadcast over Sveriges Television, with season 1 airing October–December 2008.

Melodifestivalen 2011 was a Swedish song contest held between February and March 2011. It selected Sweden's 51st song to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest, and was the 50th edition of Melodifestivalen. Eric Saade, with the song "Popular", won the contest and thus was selected to represent Sweden in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.
