The Real News is Pakistan's first English-language comedy show, which airs on Play TV. The show was created by Saad Haroon, who also hosts the show along with co-host Danish Ali. The show makes fun of actual news events using political and social satire.

Current format

The Real News is recorded in front of a live audience in AAJ Studios. [1] The shows starts by parodying current news headlines, after which the scene shifts to a correspondent at a location relevant to current events. The expose section features prerecorded interviews with people about an underlying theme. The show also features live interviews with celebrity guests. The show is currently hosted by Saad Haroon and Danish Ali.

First season

The first season's 13 episodes aired in 2006 featuring Saad Haroon Mikail Lotia and Danish Ali.

Second season

The second season started airing mid-2007 with host Saad Haroon and Danish Ali.

Saad Haroon is a Pakistani comedian, actor, and writer. Haroon created and hosted the first ever English language comedy television show in Pakistan, called The Real News. In October 2014, he was voted the second funniest person in the world, securing 59,213 votes in the Laugh Factory competition.

Hum Sub Umeed Se Hain is a political satire show, which features funny segments on Pakistani political issues. Hosted by Saba Qamar, Fiza Ali and Mehwish Hayat, the show was divided into 3 versions. The first one is 'Midweek Version' Hosted by Mehwish Hayat, the second is 'Extra Version' Hosted By Fiza Ali and the third is 'Weekend Version' hosted by notable Pakistani actress Saba Qamar. Earlier this show was also hosted by actress Veena Malik, Sara Chaudry, Hira Salman, Kiran Tabeer, Mathira and Arisha Razi. This show has been on the air since July 2007. Due to its popularity, it aired till 2015 and was finished in 2015 due to ban on Geo Entertainment.
