The Recording Studio is a 2019 Australian TV series broadcast nationally by the ABC. [1] Narrated by Megan Washington it brings everyday Australians into a professional recording studio to record a song. [2] [3]

The music from the series won the 2019 ARIA Award for Best Original Soundtrack, Cast or Show Album. [4] [5]

Australian Recording Industry Association music industry trade group

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade group representing the Australian recording industry which was established in 1983 by six major record companies, EMI, Festival, CBS, RCA, WEA and Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. It oversees the collection, administration and distribution of music licenses and royalties.

The Choir of Hard Knocks consisted of homeless and disadvantaged people, which was formed in September 2006 with 47 members. It was developed by cooperation between Jonathon Welch, Jason Stephens and RecLink. It came to prominence as the subject of a five-part Australian Broadcasting Corporation documentary TV series of the same name, broadcast weekly from May 2007. They released two albums, Choir of Hard Knocks: the Voice of RecLink, which peaked at No. 21 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and Songs of Hope and Inspiration, which reached No. 39. A DVD of the series also titled, Choir of Hard Knocks: the Voice of RecLink, was issued in August. A second series in November 2007 followed the choir members preparing for a concert at the Sydney Opera House. In April 2009 the choir was replaced by the Choir of Hope and Inspiration after a falling-out between Welch and RecLink.

The latter ceremony took place on 7 November at the Sydney Opera House and was telecast by Network Ten at 8:30pm. Gang of Youths Australian indie rock band

Gang of Youths are an Australian indie rock group from Sydney. The band consists of principal songwriter David Le'aupepe, Max Dunn, Jung Kim, Donnie Borzestowski (drums) and Tom Hobden. Kim is Korean-American, Dunn is from New Zealand and Borzestowski is Polish-Australian, Hobden is British, while Le'aupepe is of Samoan-Jewish descent. They are known for their 2017 single "Let Me Down Easy" which became their first top 50 single in Australia. Their debut album, The Positions, peaked at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart in May 2015 and was nominated for multiple ARIA Awards.

Tash Sultana is an Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, described as a "one-person band". Sultana is best known for their 2016 single "Jungle", which was voted into third place in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2016.

The Teskey Brothers Blues rock group

The Teskey Brothers are an Australian blues rock band from Melbourne, named after the two brothers who formed the group in 2008: Josh Teskey and Sam Teskey. The band also includes Brendon Love and Liam Gough (drums). In 2019 they signed with Glassnote Records and Ivy League Records. They have released two albums, Half Mile Harvest (2017) and Run Home Slow (2019). At the 2019 ARIA Music Awards, The Teskey Brothers were nominated for seven awards. They won three categories for the album, Run Home Slow, Best Group, Best Blues and Roots Album and Engineer of the Year.

The ARIA Music Awards of 2019 are the 33rd Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards and consist of a series of awards, including the 2019 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Hall of Fame Awards, and ARIA Fine Arts Awards and the ARIA Awards. The ARIA Awards ceremony were held on 27 November 2019 and broadcast from the Star Event Centre, Sydney around Australia on the Nine Network. Guy Sebastian hosted the ceremony, he also performed his track, "Choir", and won two categories.
