The Sailor's Revenge is the eighth solo album by Bap Kennedy. The album was produced by Mark Knopfler. All eleven songs were written by Bap Kennedy. [1]
In his review in The Telegraph, Martin Chilton wrote:
On The Sailor's Revenge, the tracks are well written, the singing is good and the musicianship first class—unsurprising, since Jerry Douglas, James Walbourne, Guy Fletcher, Glenn Worf and John McCusker are among those playing. Special praise, too, for Michael McGoldrick, who is stunning on flutes, pipes and whistle. But it's Bap—the 50-year-old older brother of singer Brian Kennedy—who is the real star of the show. He's an adroit songwriter and he can cover soul, country and folk with ease. All 11 songs are of high quality—the standouts perhaps being "Jimmy Sanchez" and "The Sailor's Revenge"—and it's easy to see why Van the man rates Bap the Chap so highly. [2]
A deluxe two-CD edition was released 7 February 2012 and includes a bonus 11 track "best of" disc that features two previously unreleased tracks.

Howl On the fourth solo studio album by Bap Kennedy, was released on August 3, 2009 on Kennedy's new label, Lonely Street Discs. Excluding a cover of "Hey Joe", all songs on the album were written by Kennedy. This is the first album he has written and recorded in his native Northern Ireland. This album features songs that were inspired by Kennedy's childhood memories of growing up with the influence of the popular American music rock icons Elvis Presley and Jimi Hendrix and the country music of Hank Williams. The songs also relate to 1960s American political figures: John F. Kennedy and to events: the 1969 moon landing and with Kennedy's childhood obsession with the American Dream. Although the worldwide release was August 3, 2009, the album was released in Northern Ireland on July 4, 2009, with Kennedy's appearance at the Black Box in Belfast.

The first studio double-album of Knopfler's 35-year career as a recording artist, Privateering consists of 20 original songs, and integrates blues rock with traditional folk and country genres. Recorded between March and December 2011, the album received generally positive reviews throughout Europe, and reached the number one position on album charts in Austria, Germany, Norway and the Netherlands, as well as the number two or three position in Belgium, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. The album peaked at number eight in the United Kingdom. The album was released in North America a full year after its European release due to a contractual dispute between Knopfler and his North American distributors.
