The Sandmen is a Danish rock band that was formed in Copenhagen in 1985. The band broke up in 1995, but was reunited in 2003 on the occasion of the release of the compilation album Beauties and Beasts. In 2006 they revived releasing their studio album, the first in over a decade called White Trash Red Front, their biggest success. In 2014, the band has become a trio formation of Allan Vegenfeldt, Michael Illo Rasmussen and Stefan Moulvad with a new release Den Bedste dag and a new departure for the band in its first album in Danish after 8 albums in English. Originally The Sandmen consisted of Allan Vegenfeldt on vocals, Stefan Jensen, Ole Wennike and Michael Illo Rasmussen. They released their materials on Garden Records. Guitarist Sam Mitchell joined The Sandmen in 1988, before releasing the album Western Blood. In 1989, the group had a hit with the song "House in the Country" from the American version of Western Blood released a year later.
The Sandmen were included in record label A & M Records with a promotional tour in the United States. Gimme Gimme, the band's third album was recorded in place in Malmö, Sweden and shelving of materials recorded earlier in London. The album became one of the first examples of classic rock fused with the twisted late-80s Manchester-wave in the style of Happy Mondays.
Stefan Jensen left the band in 1992 just before signing with EMI and recording of Sleepyhead. The album helped the band to be an established name in Denmark. The 1994 album In The House of Secrets added a "jazzy" side with improvisations. "Slave Song" from that album has become a huge live favourite tune. The band broke up in 1995.
Ole Wennike, Allan Vegenfeldt then formed the band Nerve together with The Law guitarist Stefan Moulvad and Morten Hansen and Alex Puddu (from Puddu Varano). After an EP and an album that band also split up.
Release of the compilation album Beauties and Beasts in 2003 was an occasion for reuniting, but without guitar player Sam Mitchell, who had been struck by illness. The band now consisted of : Allan Vegenfeldt, Ole Wennike, Michael Illo Rasmussen and Stefan Moulvad. On June 15, 2006 Sam Mitchell died 56 years old.
In 2006, White Trash Red Front became their highest charting album and a first album after a break for a full decade. The ballad "Wouldn't Mind at All" became a radio hit. Influences included pop, garage rock and psychedelic / improvisational rock.
In May 2008, the band recorded in Gothenburg the critically acclaimed album Shine. The band toured until mid-2009, when members decided to take time off for personal projects. In 2011, bassist Ole Wennike left the band for unknown reasons. Allan Vegenfeldt, Michael Illo Rasmussen and Stefan Moulvad decided to continue the cooperation. Bass player Jens Hein and keyboard player Palle Hjorth were added subsequently for live gigs and were part of the release, the 2014 album Den bedste dag. [2] [3] In 2016-17 the band worked on material for the 2019 release Himmelstormer again collaborating with Jens Hein and now also guitarist and harpist Jarno Varsted. Mercyful Fate is a Danish heavy metal band from Copenhagen, formed in 1981 by vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann. Influenced by progressive rock and hard rock, and with lyrics dealing with LaVeyan Satanism and the occult, Mercyful Fate was part of the first wave of black metal in the early to mid-1980s, along with Venom and Bathory. The band is also cited as a formative influence on many then-up-and-coming subgenres of heavy metal, including thrash metal and death metal, as well as the Norwegian black metal scene.
Brian Baker is an American punk rock musician. He is best known as one of the founding members of the hardcore punk band Minor Threat, and as a guitarist in Bad Religion since 1994. In Minor Threat, he originally played bass guitar before switching to guitar in 1982 when Steve Hansgen joined the band, and then moved back to bass after Hansgen's departure. He also founded Dag Nasty in 1985, was part of the original line-up of Samhain, and has had stints in Doggy Style, The Meatmen, Government Issue, and Junkyard.
Kim Mellius Flyvholm Larsen was a Danish rock and pop musician. He was a major selling Scandinavian act with over 5 million albums sold.
Illdisposed is a Danish death metal band from Aarhus, that was formed in 1991 by vocalist Bo Summer and guitarist Lasse Bak. As of 2020, the band consists of vocalist Bo Summer, guitarists Jakob Batten and Rasmus Henriksen, bassist Kussen and drummer Rasmus Schmidt.
Kliché was a Danish rock band from Aarhus, known for their avant-garde and postmodern musical style. In performance, the group wore uniforms or overalls in order to reflect a factory, even going so far as to use a metal grinder as an instrument. They ironically quoted Mao Zedong and Buddha in several of their songs and frequently made politically charged music. Their first album Supertanker entered the Danish Culture Canon in 2006 because of its influential status and expression of emerging post-modernity in early 1980's Denmark.
Gør det Noget is Danish rock group Gasolin's seventh studio album. When Gasolin' released Gør det Noget in November 1977, they knew it was their last album. After the ambitious Gas 5 and Efter endnu en dag, Gasolin' decided to make a garage-rock album. Therefore, the service of Roy Thomas Baker was not needed and Gør det Noget was produced by Gasolin' and "Rocco" Tommy Bogs.

Shu•bi•dua or Shu-bi-dua is a Danish pop group that was formed in 1973 in Copenhagen, as an expansion of the group Passport. Throughout their 40-year history, Shu-bi-dua changed their lineup many times, however their lead singer Michael Bundesen was with the band throughout, except for a gap between 1984 and 1987. They have produced many well-known hits in Denmark, like Vuffeli-vov, Hvalen Hvalborg, Står på en Alpetop, Stærk Tobak, Familien kom til Kaffe, Sexchikane, We wanna be free, and many more.
"Gimme Some Truth" is a protest song written and performed by John Lennon. It was first released on his 1971 album Imagine. "Gimme Some Truth" contains various political references emerging from the time it was written, during the latter years of the Vietnam War. Co-produced by Phil Spector, the recording includes a slide guitar solo played by George Harrison, Lennon's former bandmate in the Beatles.
The Big Bang: The Essential Collection is a compilation album by the Norwegian rock band TNT, released in 2003. The compilation mainly focuses on the studio albums the band released in the 1980s, from TNT (1982) to Intuition (1989). Guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø had suggested for the inclusion of several tracks from the 1992 album Realized Fantasies, however only the single "Downhill Racer" was included. No material was included from the band's most recent albums at the time, Firefly (1997) and Transistor (1999). The compilation also includes two newly recorded tracks, "Hey Love" and "Satellite", and an outtake from the Tell No Tales sessions, "Destiny".
Jump the Gun is the third studio album by the Danish hard rock/heavy metal band Pretty Maids. It was released on 20 April 1990 in Europe by CBS. In the US, the title was changed to Lethal Heroes and it was released by Epic Records. The album was produced by Deep Purple's bass guitarist Roger Glover. According to CBS, it was then the most expensive album recording to date in Denmark, with a cost of around DKK 3–3.5 million. Jump the Gun was nominated for Danish Heavy Rock Album of the Year at the 1991 Danish Grammy Awards, but lost to Skagarack's A Slice of Heaven.
Sin-Decade is the fourth studio album by the Danish hard rock/heavy metal band Pretty Maids. It was produced by Flemming Rasmussen and Pretty Maids, and released in 1992 by Columbia Records.
Danish jazz dates back to 1923 when Valdemar Eiberg formed a jazz orchestra and recorded what are thought to be the first Danish jazz records in August 1924. However, jazz in Denmark is typically first dated to 1925, when bandleader Sam Wooding toured in Copenhagen with an orchestra. This was the first time most Danes had heard jazz music. Some prominent early Danish jazz musicians include Erik Tuxen who formed a jazz band and was later named conductor of the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra; Bernhard Christensen, an art music composer who incorporated jazz elements into his pieces, and Sven Møller Kristensen, who was the lyricist for many of Bernhard Christensen's pieces and who wrote a book on jazz theory in Danish.
Swedish Erotica was a Swedish rock band founded in 1985 and disbanded in 1996. The same members also played in the 90's in the cover band Double Trouble. Former members of Swedish Erotica have played with Yngwie Malmsteen, TNT, Vinnie Vincent, Treat, Black Ingvars, Shotgun Messiah, John Norum, Talisman and King Diamond.
Michael Ehlert Falch is a Danish singer, guitarist, author and actor.
Malurt was a long-running Danish rock band established in 1977 by Michael Falch who was the band's lead singer. Malurt released their debut album Kold Krig in 1980 on small label Amar Records, but breakthrough came with the album Vindueskigger and the emanating hit single from the album called "Superlove". The band was signed to Medley Records.
