The Shape of Water is a 2006 American feature documentary directed by Kum-Kum Bhavnani [1] [2] and narrated by Susan Sarandon. It focuses on five women in different countries pursuing change in the world by fighting against female genital mutilation and military occupation, and for land rights and sustainability.

The Shape of Water won a number of awards.[ clarification needed ] It was shown at the 2008 Middle East International Film Festival in Abu Dhabi.

Bibbo was a music composer, singer and film actress who worked in both Indian and Pakistani films. She composed music for Adl-e-Jahangir in 1934, leading her to become the first female music composer of the Bollywood. She acted in Indian cinema from 1933 to 1947 before moving to Pakistan, following Partition of India in 1947. She started her acting career with Ajanta Cinetone Ltd. in 1933, working with directors like M. D. Bhavnani and A. P. Kapoor. She was one of the top leading ladies of the 1930s along with actresses like Devika Rani, Durga Khote, Sulochana, Mehtab, Shanta Apte, Sabita Devi, Leela Desai and Naseem Banu. The Shape of Water is a 2017 American romantic fantasy drama film directed by Guillermo del Toro and written by del Toro and Vanessa Taylor. It stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Octavia Spencer. Set in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1962, the story follows a mute cleaner at a high-security government laboratory who falls in love with a captured humanoid amphibian creature. Filming took place in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, between August and November 2016.

Bhudo Advani was an Indian cinema character-actor and comedian. He started his acting career in theatre with the notion of spreading awareness on social issues. He came to Bombay on the advice of an Ajanta Cinetone representative and was offered a role in the film Afzal, also called Hoor-E-Haram in 1933, directed by Mohan Bhavnani. Kum-Kum Bhavnani is an American university professor, filmmaker, and author. As of 2018, she is a Professor of Sociology and Distinguished Professor with Feminist Studies and Global and International Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she is Chair of the interdisciplinary program in Women, Culture, Development. She served as the Chair (2019-20) of the University of California Academic Senate.
