Lew Brown was a lyricist for popular songs in the United States. During World War I and the Roaring Twenties, he wrote lyrics for several of the top Tin Pan Alley composers, especially Albert Von Tilzer. Brown was one third of a successful songwriting and music publishing team with Buddy DeSylva and Ray Henderson from 1925 until 1931. Brown also wrote or co-wrote many Broadway shows and Hollywood films. Die Csárdásfürstin is an operetta in 3 acts by Hungarian composer Emmerich Kálmán, with libretto by Leo Stein and Bela Jenbach. Myron Lee Coulter, Ed.D. was an American university professor, administrator, and president/chancellor. From 1968 to 1976, Coulter served as Associate Dean/Professor of Education, Vice President for Institutional Services, Vice President for Administration, and Interim President at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. The Coulter Faculty Commons for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is part of Western Carolina. He was appointed President of Idaho State University in Pocatello from 1976 to 1984. In 1984, Coulter became 16th Chancellor of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina, and served in that role until his retirement from higher education in 1994. Apart from Western Carolina, he was a member of several Cherokee groups.

Sylva Autokits is a kit car manufacturer based in Lincolnshire, England. Sylva was founded in 1981 by Jeremy Phillips and has developed and produced a number of small and lightweight sports cars. Sylva cars have won a number of 750 Motor Club Kit Car championships.

Willets is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, North Carolina, United States. Willets is located along U.S. Route 74, west of Balsam and east of Sylva. It is home to the Balsam-Willets-Ochre Hill fire department, a church, and many homes. It was a thriving unincorporated town along the Murphy Branch of the Western North Carolina Railroad, but seriously declined during the Great Depression in the 1930s, consolidations of the schools in the Scott Creek Township in 1951, and the widening/straightening of US 23 in the early 1950s and early 1970s. Today it is a tiny bedroom community for the larger population centers of Waynesville and Sylva.

The 2015 Bayelsa State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on December 5, 2015. The PDP nominee Henry Seriake Dickson won the election, defeating Timipre Sylva of the APC.

The 2012 Bayelsa State gubernatorial election occurred on February 11, 2012. PDP's Seriake Dickson won election for a first term, defeating other party candidates. Dickson received 89% of the total vote.

The 2008 Bayelsa State gubernatorial election occurred on May 24, 2008. Incumbent PDP Governor Timipre Sylva won re-election in the supplementary election, defeating AC candidate, Ebitimi Amgbare, to emerge winner. Sylva won in six LGAs of the state.
