The Valley of Adventure is a 1926 Australian novel by E. V. Timms. [1] In the novel, a father and his sons discover a map that takes them to a hidden valley. [2]
The novel was well received. Table Talk called it "quite a thrilling book of adventure with an Australian setting, which will appeal to boys especially." [3] The Bulletin wrote, "The boy who does not devour this veracious chronicle with a galloping appetite is no boy." [4]
In 1937, The Valley of Adventure was adapted into a radio serial. [5] The production ranks among Timms' best remembered works for radio. [6]
There was a sequel Cities Under the Sea, [7] which was released in 1937. The radio serial was then adapted into a novel, which Timms published in 1948. [8]

He was injured serving in the Gallipoli Campaign during World War I and was an unsuccessful soldier settler before turning to writing. He became a popular novelist, and also wrote scripts for films and radio. He served as an officer during World War II and was on duty the night of the Cowra breakout. He has been called "Australia's greatest historical novelist."
