The Vanishing Triangle is a six-part television series created by Ivan Kavanagh. It is a dramatisation of true stories from Ireland's Vanishing Triangle. Distributed by Eccho Rights, it premiered on Sundance Now in the United States on 26 October 2023, and aired on Virgin Media One in Ireland on 25 March 2024 and Acorn TV in the United Kingdom on 29 April. [1]

Production

Development

The Vanishing Triangle was originally developed by Park Films and Screen Ireland. 87 Films and Paper Planes Productions boarded the project as it was commissioned by Virgin Media One and SundanceNow. [3] The series is created by Ivan Kavanagh, and co-written with Sally Tatchell and Rachel Anthony. Executive producers include actor Allen Leech, AnneMarie Naughton and Ana Habajec of Park Films, Patrick Irwin of 87 Films, Alon Aranya of Paper Plane Productions, and Adam Barth and Lucy Robert of Eccho Rights.

Casting

In September 2022, it was announced Allen Leech and India Mullen would lead the series. [4] Maura Foley and Kiera Crawford also joined the cast. [5]

Filming

Filming was reported in Bray, County Wicklow in October 2022. [5]

<i>Downton Abbey</i> (film) 2019 historical drama film

Downton Abbey is a 2019 historical drama film written by Julian Fellowes, series creator and writer of the television series of the same name, and directed by Michael Engler. The film was produced by Carnival Films and Perfect World Pictures and it continues the storyline from the series, with much of the original cast returning. The film, set in 1927, depicts a royal visit to the Crawley family's stately home in Yorkshire. As royal staff members descend on Downton, an assassin has also arrived and attempts to kill the monarch. The Crawleys and their servants are pitted against the royal entourage, including the queen's lady-in-waiting, who has fallen out with the Crawley family, especially the Dowager Countess, over an inheritance issue.

<i>Belgravia</i> (TV series) British television series

Belgravia is a British Regency and Victorian-era historical drama television series, set in the 19th century, based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Julian Fellowes—both named after Belgravia, an affluent district of London. The limited series, a co-production between Carnival Films and American cable network Epix, is adapted by Fellowes from his novel, and reunites the production team behind Downton Abbey with Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant executive producing alongside Liz Trubridge and Fellowes. India Mullen is an Irish actress. She is known for her roles in the Virgin Media One series Red Rock (2015–2017) and The Vanishing Triangle (2023), the BBC Three and Hulu miniseries Normal People (2020), and the third series of the Sky Max comedy-drama Brassic (2021).
