Thirdstory is an American band from New York City consisting of singer-songwriters Elliott Skinner, Ben Lusher, and Rich Saunders. [1] [2] [3]

History

Thirdstory formed in New York City in early 2014. The Trio is signed to Verve Records a record label under Universal Music Group. [4] [5] [6]

The band opened for Tori Kelly on the Unbreakable Tour in spring 2016, [7] [8] [9] and released their debut EP, Searching, on May 6, 2016. [10] This was followed by a single, “G Train” featuring Pusha T released in November 2016. [11] In 2017, they performed with Chance the Rapper on the Be Encouraged Tour as members of his band. [12] [13]

On January 31, 2018, Thirdstory announced their debut album, Cold Heart, to be released on March 9, 2018. The album includes the single "G Train" and other songs from the "Searching" EP. [14]

Official disbandment

On February 12, 2019, the band announced on Instagram that their members will be taking separate paths in their careers.

"After five years of singing, writing, arranging, playing, touring, and practically living together, we’ve officially decided to take time apart to work on new projects and new endeavors. We’re incredibly excited to share lots of fresh music with you this year - Elliott and Ben are working on their own solo projects, and Richard is continuing to release music with Refs. Can’t wait for you all to join us in this new chapter, and hear the individual pieces that have made Thirdstory tick all these years." [15]

Current status

Their social media handles remained somewhat active, posting updates on the respective member's activities in their own music careers after the disbandment.

They were featured in two tracks on Peter CottonTale's album "CATCH", released in April 2020. They had posted in 2018 concerning the album, before they disbanded.

Michael Kenji Shinoda is an American musician, singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer. He co-founded the rock band Linkin Park in 1996 and was the band's collaborative vocalist whilst Chester Bennington was lead vocalist, as well as rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, primary songwriter and producer. Shinoda later created a hip-hop-driven side project, Fort Minor, in 2004. He has also served as a producer for tracks and albums by Lupe Fiasco, Styles of Beyond and the X-Ecutioners.

Brian Imanuel Soewarno, known professionally as Rich Brian, is an Indonesian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is known for his viral debut single "Dat $tick", which was first released in March 2016 on SoundCloud. The single was later certified gold by RIAA. His debut studio album, Amen, was released in 2018 and peaked at number 18 on the US Billboard 200. Brian's second studio album, The Sailor, was released in 2019. He released an EP titled 1999 in 2020. He released another EP titled Brightside in January 2022. Brian has collaborated with many artists from China and South Korea such as CHUNGHA, Keith Ape, Jackson Wang and Jae Park.

"Two Birds, One Stone" is a hip hop song recorded by Canadian rapper Drake. It was released worldwide by OVO Sound, as one of the promotional singles for Drake's fifth mixtape, More Life, on October 29, 2016. Written in the wake of Drake's highly publicized feud with Meek Mill, it was co-written by Noah Shebib, Kanye West, and Joey Castellani, and composed by 40 and West.

Why Don't We, shortened to WDW, are an American boy band consisting of Jonah Marais, Corbyn Besson, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery, and Zach Herron. They were formed in 2016 and have released two studio albums and six extended plays.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Suicideboys</span> American hip-hop duo

Suicideboys are an American hip hop duo from New Orleans, Louisiana, founded in 2014 by cousins Ruby da Cherry and Scrim. Via the music sharing platform SoundCloud, the duo rose to popularity for their abrasive, self-produced beats, as well as their harsh lyrical content and themes prominently featuring substance abuse and suicidal ideation. Danielle Balbuena, better known by her stage name 070 Shake, is an American rapper and singer. Aside from her solo career, she is also a member of the musical collective 070, who have released a mixtape together titled The 070 Project: Chapter 1 (2016). Shake released her solo debut EP, Glitter, in March 2018.
