Thistle Dew Dessert Theatre, founded in 1996, is community theater in Sacramento, California. It claims to be the only American theater serving dessert with its theatrical productions. [1] [2] [3] The theatre was established by playwright Thomas Kelly. [4] The American Regional Theatre Association awarded the theatre a special citation for original work in 2009. [5]

Jacob M. Appel's Thirds, which premiered at the theatre, won an Elly Award in 2011. [6]

Sutter's Fort was a 19th-century agricultural and trade colony in the Mexican Alta California province. Established in 1839, the site of the fort was originally part of a utopian colonial project called New Helvetia by its builder John Sutter, though construction of the fort proper would not begin until 1841. Area code 279 began service in March 2018 to relieve an exhausted supply of telephone numbers in the 916 area code.

The Alhambra Theatre opened in 1927 and was the preeminent movie house in the greater Sacramento area for many years. It was designed in the Moorish style of the great Spanish cities and included a large courtyard and fountain. The interior was lavishly appointed with red carpet, gold trim, and large pillars. The Sacramento French Film Festival is an annual film festival founded in 2001 held on the last two weekends of June at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento, California. It celebrates the present as well as the rich history of French cinema featuring new releases and rarely seen classics.
