Thoguru Arthur (10 July 1955) [1] is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election on YSRCP ticket from Nandikotkur, a constituency reserved for SCs in Kurnool district. [2] He won the MLA seat defeating his nearest rival Bandi Jayaraju of TDP by 40,610 votes. On 19 March 2024, ahead of the General elections to the parliament and the 2024 AP Assembly elections, he quit the ruling YSRCP and joined the Indian National Congress party. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Early life and education

Arthur hails from Maddur village in Pamulapadu mandal, Kurnool district. His parents are Thoguru Samuel and Marthamma. [1] He married V. Papamma. He completed his graduation in 1981 from the Government Degree College for men, Kurnool. [7] [8] [9] He has a son Vivek Jaya Sandeep and his daughter Vijaya Siri Sindhura is a graduate from IIT, Guwahati and joined TISS in 2023. [10]

Career

He was an ardent follower of former chief minister late Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy. He missed the MLA ticket in 2014 but won the Nandikotkur seat in 2019. Earlier, during the period of Chandrababu Naidu, he worked as Chief Marshal in the Assembly for three years. [8] In 1982, he joined the police service as a sub inspector. [11] [1]

Honors

Arthur received a certificate of appreciation from the London World Book of Records for his service in the constituency during the Covid pandemic. [12]

He joined Janasena Party in July 2023. He was first elected as a MLA from pendurthi in Praja Rajyam Party in 2009. In 2019, he joined Telugu Desam Party followed by YSR Congress Party in 2021 and finally in 2023, he is in Jana Sena Party.

Malagundla Sankaranarayana is a former cabinet minister from Andhra Pradesh, India. He is a leader of the YSR Congress party. He won as MLA from Penukonda constituency of Anantapur district.

He lost the Anakapalli MP seat as a YSR Congress Party candidate in the 2024 Indian general election in Andhra Pradesh.

Kondeti Chitti Babu is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election from P. Gannavaram Constituency in East Godavari district on YSRCP ticket. In April 2024, he quit YSRCP.

He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election representing the YSR Congress Party. He has been nominated again to contest the Banaganpalle seat in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election but he lost the election.

B. V. Jaya Nageswara Reddy is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He is an MLA from Yemmiganur Assembly constituency in Kurnool district. He represents Telugu Desam Party. He won the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election where TDP had an alliance with BJP and Jana Sena Party.
