Thom Mpinganjira is a Malawian business tycoon and philanthropist. [1] He is the founder and former CEO of FDH Financial Holdings Limited. [2] He has also served as a council member of the Bankers Association of Malawi. He was a Trustee of the University of Malawi Alumni Association. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]

Previously, Mpinganjira was a chairman of Malawi Investments Promotion Agency. [9] [10] [11] He was also a member of the Institute of Bankers in Malawi before becoming a chairman of the Stakeholders Committee of Millennium Challenge Account. [12] [13] [14]

Mpinganjira is the current chairman of the Electricity Supply Commission of Malawi (ESCOM). Mpinganjira is also a member of the Ethical and Investigations Committee for the Institute of Chartered Accountants. [13] [14]

In 2021, a court convicted him for attempting to bribe five constitutional court judges, applying a custodial sentence of 9 years. [15]

Alleluya Band is an oldest Malawian music group founded by Paul Banda his brother Lucius Banda from Balaka. The band started and rose to fame in 1970s. The band's current leader is Coss Chiwalo. In 2021, the group released their 13th album in May. In 2018 and 2019, the band visited Rome and met with Pope Francis for Panama for World Youth Day. In 2020, after the band embarked from Italy, they were quarantined due to Covid-19. The band has also shared stage with different artists such as Skeffa Chimoto and Dan Lufani.

The International Blantyre Cancer Centre (IBCC) is a private, specialised, tertiary care medical facility owned by the Thomson and Barbara Mpinganjira Foundation. It is the first and only free-standing cancer treatment and research centre in Malawi's Southern Region. The centre was opened by Lazarus Chakwera, the President of Malawi, on 5 March 2024.

Simama Hotel is a hotel located in Lilongwe, Malawi. It is the country's biggest and most notable hotel after the Sun Bird chain of hotels. In 2018, his album titled "Before I Sleep" won the category Album of the Year in UMP Awards and he was nominated as Best Hip Hop Artist as well as Best Urban Gospel. In 2016, was nominated for the same category and award.
