The Thomas G. Carpenter Library is the library at the University of North Florida. It is named after the university's founding president, Thomas G. Carpenter.
Construction first began on the library in 1978, and the building was opened October 1, 1980. A dedication ceremony took place a year later, on August 15, 1981. [1] The architects for the original building were Helman, Hurley, Charvat, and Peacock. In 2004, a $22.5 million, four-story addition and renovation project began, intended to handle the university's growing student population. The architects for the addition were Rink Design Partnerships, Inc, and the contractor was Turner Construction. A Starbucks has also been added to a lobby of the original building. The project expanded the building's size from 120,000 square feet (11,000 m2) to 199,000 sq. feet. The addition opened December 2005 and was celebrated October 5th, 2006. [2]
Currently the Library has 300 public workstations, 17 group study rooms, 37 carrels, 21 faculty, 24 support staff, over 1.4 million microform units, over 800 videos, 13,000 electronic journals, over 52,000 electronic books, and over 800,000 volumes. Electronic resources are available to community users off campus. Free wireless Internet is provided throughout the entire building and laptops are available for checkout to currently enrolled students. Special Borrower ID's are also available for purchase by non-UNF students, which allow for a rental of up to 10 items. Special borrower ID's are free per-semester for students enrolled in Florida State College of Jacksonville. The building can seat 2,000 patrons. [3] The library also holds the university's archives and special collections.
The John P. Robarts Research Library, commonly referred to as Robarts Library, is the main humanities and social sciences library of the University of Toronto Libraries and the largest individual library in the university. Opened in 1973 and named for John Robarts, the 17th Premier of Ontario, the library contains more than 4.5 million bookform items, 4.1 million microform items and 740,000 other items.
The W. E. B. Du Bois Library is one of the three libraries of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amherst, Massachusetts, the others being the Science and Engineering Library and the Wadsworth Library at the Mount Ida Campus. The W. E. B. Du Bois Library holds resources primarily in humanities and social and behavioral sciences. At 28 stories and 286 feet 4+1⁄8 inches tall, it is the third-tallest library in the world after the National Library of Indonesia in Jakarta at 414 feet and Shanghai Library in China at 348 feet. Measuring taller purely by height, the libraries in Jakarta and Shanghai both only have 24 floors. The W. E. B. Du Bois Library is also considered to be the tallest academic research library and 32nd tallest educational building in the world. The building maintains a security force, which is managed by various supervisors and student employees.
The Joseph Regenstein Library is the University of Chicago’s primary library, located on the University’s Hyde Park campus on the South Side of Chicago. Named after the industrialist and philanthropist Joseph Regenstein, it is one of the largest repositories of books in the world. The Regenstein is noted for its brutalist architecture.
The University of North Florida (UNF) is a public research university in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. It is part of the State University System of Florida and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. Its campus comprises 1,300 acres amid a natural preserve on Jacksonville's Southside. It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity". Adam William Herbert, Jr. is an American retired academic administrator. He served as president of the University of North Florida from 1989 to 1998, as chancellor of the State University System of Florida from 1998 to 2001, and as president of Indiana University from 2003 to 2007. He was the first African-American to hold the latter two positions. He announced his retirement from Indiana University in 2007, and was succeeded by Michael McRobbie.
The Lied Library building is located on the University of Nevada's Las Vegas (UNLV) campus in Paradise, Nevada. At 5 stories high and 302,000 square feet (28,100 m2), it is the largest building on the campus. The Architect of Record was Welles Pugsley Architects. It first opened on January 8, 2001. UNLV Libraries, established in 1957, includes other campus libraries: the Architecture Studies Library, Health Sciences Library, Teacher Development & Resources Library, and UNLV Music Library. UNLV Libraries has a collection of over one million volumes, access to over 20,000 online and print journals, and over 2 million additional resources of various media such as microfilm, DVDs, and government publications.
The Grainger Engineering Library Information Center (GELIC) is a library at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign Grainger College of Engineering for all disciplines of engineering at the university. It is situated on the north side of the Bardeen Quad on the engineering campus along Springfield Avenue. The Grainger Engineering Library is the largest library in the United States for the study of engineering. It is one of several "departmental" libraries that constitute the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign University Library.

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library is one of two main libraries at North Carolina State University. It is the third building to house the NC State University Libraries, following Brooks Hall and Holladay Hall. The current building, situated on the Hillsborough Street edge of North Campus, is the result of four stages of construction, and houses the majority of the volumes in NC State's collection.

The John Hay Library is the second oldest library on the campus of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. It is located on Prospect Street opposite the Van Wickle Gates. After its construction in 1910, the Hay Library became the main library building on campus, replacing the building now known as Robinson Hall. Today, the John Hay Library is one of five individual libraries that make up the University Library. The Hay houses the University Library's rare books and manuscripts, the University Archives, and the Library's special collections.
The University at Buffalo Libraries is the university library system of the University at Buffalo. The library's collections includes some 3.8 million print volumes, as well as media, and special collections. The Libraries subscribe to some 350 research databases and 10,000 electronic journals.
The Coggin College of Business is the business school of the University of North Florida, a public research university in Jacksonville, Florida. About 2,850 students are enrolled in the college, including undergraduate and graduate students. It is one of UNF's three original colleges. Two of the college's programs, the international business program and the transportation and logistics program, are designated as flagship programs at UNF. Coggin is accredited by the AACSB. It was named the Coggin College of Business in 2002 honoring Luther and Blanch Coggin, after a $5 million gift.
Thomas Glenn Carpenter was an American educator and university administrator. He was the founding President of the University of North Florida (UNF), serving from 1969 to 1980, and was President of Memphis State University from 1980 to 1991. The University of North Florida's Thomas G. Carpenter Library is named for him.

The Founders Library in Washington, D.C. is the main library at Howard University. The building, named The Founders Library in honor of the 17 men who founded Howard University, serves as the iconic symbol of the university. Designed by architect Albert Irvin Cassell, construction began in 1937 during the presidency of Mordecai Wyatt Johnson. As the second library built for the university, the cornerstone was laid on June 10, 1937, and the building was opened for service on January 3, 1939. Today, the library houses over 1 million volumes, the Channing Pollock Theater Collection, and is the home to the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center.
The University of South Florida Tampa Library is the main research library for the University of South Florida. Housing over 1.3 million books, academic journals and electronic resources, including 52,000 e-journal subscriptions, 443,000 e-books, and over 800 databases, the library has more than 2 million visitors each year. The library offers tutoring and writing services, laptops, a career resource center, and course reserves. The facility houses several special and digital collections, including literature, oral histories, photographs, artifacts, and the university archives. The current Dean of USF Libraries is Todd Chavez.
