Thomas Hecht (born October 31, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American pianist, composer and professor of piano, based at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore where he was appointed founding head of piano studies in 2003. [1]

Tang Quartet

The T'ang String Quartet (唐四重奏) is a Singapore-based classical string quartet that has played to critical acclaim. Formed in 1992, they are Singapore's first full-time professional chamber group. In April 2022, the Quartet opened their 30th Anniversary celebrations with a rousing performance at Victoria Concert Hall. The concert, Humble Beginnings, also formally introduced their new members, Han Oh (viola) and Wang Zihao (cello). Siow Lee Chin is a Singaporean violinist.

Jason Lai British orchestral conductor (born 1974)

Jason Lai is a British orchestral conductor. He was assistant conductor of the BBC Philharmonic from 2002 to 2005. At present he is the Principal Conductor of the Conservatory Orchestra at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music which is part of the National University of Singapore. He is also an integral coach, presenter and speaker.

Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music

The Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (Chinese: 杨秀桃音乐学院), a school of the National University of Singapore (NUS), is Singapore's first conservatory of music located at Conservatory Drive off Kent Ridge Crescent. Primarily an undergraduate institution, it offers full-time studies in 20 majors leading to a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree, as well as programmes for NUS students, graduate students, continuing education adult learners and young artists. The YST Conservatory maintains an undergraduate cohort of 220 Bachelor of Music students, all of whom receive full financial support through government grants, the Yong Loo Lin Trust and other donors. It also hosts a performance calendar of around 200 concerts annually.

The Lorong Boys are a Singaporean instrumental band, consisting of flautist Rit Xu, pianist-guitarist Jonathan Shin, violinists Gabriel Lee and David Loke and percussionist Joachim Lim. They rose to fame after performing inside MRT trains in 2014.

Singapore International Violin Competition

The Singapore International Violin Competition (SIVC) is a triennial violin competition for violinists up to the age of 30. The contest is hosted by the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and held in Singapore since 2015. The competition serves to promote the continued growth and strength of classical music in the region, as well as providing a showcase for young violinists from around the world.
