Thomas "Tom" Matthews (born 19 August 1992) is a British Paralympic table tennis player. [1] At the 2020 Summer Paralympics, he won a bronze medal in the Men's individual class 1 event. [1] Matthews is also a European champion and a World bronze medalist. [2] [3]
In 2009, Matthews was a very keen mountain biker, he went out for a bike ride with his uncle and a friend. Matthews went over the handle bars and broke his neck after going down a mountain too fast. While in rehabilitation in Rookwood Hospital, he was encouraged to try table tennis by Welsh para table tennis Paralympic medalist James Munkley when Munkley was visiting hospital wards in Wales and then Matthews joined the Welsh table tennis team in 2013 and competed internationally a year later. Dian David Mickael Jacobs was an Indonesian athlete who competed in table tennis, primarily Class 10 para table tennis. Born in Ujung Pandang, he took up table tennis at the age of ten and rose quickly through national tournaments. He was training to play internationally by 2000, and in 2001 he won his first gold medal, at the SEATTA Championships in Singapore. After 2010 he competed in para table tennis, having spent most of his career competing against athletes with full functionality. Having lost control in his right hand, he decided to compete in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, winning a bronze medal.
Ibrahim Al Husseini Hamadtou, also known as Ibrahim Elhusseiny Hamadtou, is an Egyptian Para table tennis Champion, winning several honors over the years, including the silver medals in the African Para table tennis Championships in 2011 and 2013.
Rafał Czuper is a Polish para table tennis player. He competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, winning a silver medal. He competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, winning a silver and bronze medal.
