The Thunerseespiele are open-air musical productions[ citation needed ] during summer located at Thun, the main city of the Bernese Oberland, in Switzerland. Every year internationally-famous productions are staged.

Contents

The location is at the shoreline of Lake Thun (Thunersee). The stage is temporarily built every year over the water, especially for this production. The stage orientation allows the audience to see scenic panoramas with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain peaks rising over Switzerland in the background.[ citation needed ]

Bödeli is the tongue of land between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland. Lake Thun and Lake Brienz were not yet separate after the last ice age. The rivers Lütschine from the south and the Lombach from the north brought enough debris to cause a partitioning over the millennia. Now Lake Brienz has a water level about 2 metres (6.6 ft) higher than Lake Thun and the river Aare flows from one lake to the other through the Bödeli.

It is still in regular use by the Lake Thun passenger ships of the BLS AG.
