Qatar Tijan an Nur International Quran Competition and Award is an International Quranic competition and award organized by Jeem Television (Al Jazeera Children's Channel) in Qatar. [2] [3] Children aged only 9-13 can participate in this program. [4] The competition has attracted participants from different countries, turning it into one of the most important Quran recitation competitions in the world. [2] [5] The event hosts Quran recitation competitions in various ways. [6] The contest aims to communicate and instill supreme and moral values in children, while promoting the correct use of classical Arabic and encouraging children to study and recite the Qur’an. A committee consisting of eminent scholars, and scholars specializing in the study and recitation of the Qur'an will evaluate the readers based on the rules of vowels, the quality of words and performance and the type of recitation. In this competition, First place winner get 500,000 Qatari riyal, the second place and third-place winners get 300,000 Qatari riyal and 100,000 Qatari riyal respectively. [1]

History

In 2013, more than 1,300 children from 54 countries applied to participate in the event. [7] 13 year old Doha from Morocco was winner in this session. [8]

In 2022, Quran memorizers from 48 countries were attracted, while 16 Arab countries participated with 681 reciters. [1] And Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs will sponsor in this 2022 edition for Quran Recitation.

Purpose

The purpose of this award is to serve the Qur'an of Allah and to improve the general level of efficiency of the Qur'an through the following activities.

He had won three world Qira'at competitions in the early 1970s. ‘Abdus-Samad was one of the first huffaz to make commercial recordings of his recitations and the first president of the Reciters' Union in Egypt. At 10, Abdul Basit finished learning the Quran. He also learned 7 styles of Quran recitation by the age of 12 and the 10 styles by 14. The quadrumvirate of Al-Minshawy, Abdul Basit, Mustafa Ismail, and Al-Hussary, who all belong to the "Egyptian Reciting Style", are generally considered the most important and famous Qurra' of modern times to have had an outsized impact on the Islamic world. He came to be called the Golden Throat and the Voice of Heaven due to his melodious style, breath control, and unique emotional and engaging tone. He has a son, Tareq Abd El Basit Abd El Samad, who is also a known sheikh in Egypt; he has done many interviews on his father's life, family and career.

Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi, known simply as Al-Minshawi, was an Egyptian Quranic reciter and Hafiz. Al-Minshawi was born into a Muslim Egyptian famous family. His grandfather, father, and brother were also famous Qurra. Nicknamed Al-Saut Al-Baki, he is part of a quadrumvirate, along with Abdul Basit, Mustafa Ismail, and Al-Hussary, which are considered to be the most important and famous Qurra of modern times to have an outsized impact on the Islamic World.

Maria Ulfah is an Indonesian qāriʾah and manager of the Central Institute for the Development of Quranic Recitation. She is the winner of two Indonesian national Qur'an recitation contests and is internationally recognized as one of the world's master reciters and teachers of recitation. She is also a lecturer at the Institute for the Study of Qur'an and at the National Islamic University in Indonesia, as well as the first woman to win an international Qur'an recitation award in Malaysia in 1980. She's considered an internationally significant figure in the field, and has been referred to as Southeast Asia's premier female reciter of the Qur'an.

Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil al-Hussary also known as Al-Hussary, was an Egyptian qāriʾ widely acclaimed for his accurate recitation of the Qur'an. Al-Hussary committed the entire Qur'an to memory by age 8 and started reciting at public gatherings by age 12. In 1944, Al-Hussary won Egypt Radio's Qu'ran Recitation competition which had around 200 participants, including veterans like Muhammad Rifat. The quadrumvirate of El Minshawy, Abdul Basit, Mustafa Ismail, and Al-Hussary are generally considered the most important and famous qurrāʾ of modern times to have had an outsized impact on the Islamic world.

The International Quran Recital Competition, Malaysia is the international Islamic Quran recital event that is held annually since 1961 in Malaysia. It is most populated international Quran competition all over the muslim world. Sometimes it called internationally as Malaysia International Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Competition.

Muhammad ibn Tayfour Sajawandi Islamic scholar, mystic, and theologian

ʿAbū ʿAbdullāh Muhammad Ibn ʿAbū Yazīd Tayfūr Sajāvandī Ghaznavī, also known as Abū al-Fazl as-Sajāwandī al-Qāriʾ was a 12th-century Islamic scholar, mystic, Qāriʾ and theologian. He is primarily known for his contributions to the Islamic traditions of recitation and pronunciation, creating a set of rules and markers used to indicate the pronunciation and pauses of Quranic recital, known as Sajawandi stop signs or Rumuz al-Awqaf as-Sajāwandī. He is also credited as being the first known person to use coloured circles as a means of separating verses in the Quran, a design choice which has persisted til today, with the addition of a verse number inside of the circle. In Persian, the term muṣ·ḥaf sajāwandī مُصْحَف سَجَاوَنْدِي may today be used to denote an elegantly written Quran, accounting for the association between Sajawandi and his use of lavish red and golden dots as pause markers. His son Ahmad ibn Muhammad Sajawandi was also a well-known chronicler, commentator on the Quran, poet and orator.

The contest aims to communicate and raise supreme and moral ethics in people. It also promoting the correct use of classical Arabic and encouraging children to study and recite the Qur’an. This programme was held in Al-Raied mosque, at city of Misurata.

Egypt International Holy Quran Competition is an international Quran recitation and telawat competition. This international competition is organized by the Egyptian government every year according to Hijri New Year. Since 1993, this event has been regularly organized in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, with the active participation of at least 66 countries. The event is organized by the Ministry of Religion of Egypt and coordinated by Al-Azhar University.

Hafez Saleh Ahmad Takreem is a Bangladeshi Hafez of Quran. He won first place in the 38th Islamic Republic of Iran's International Holy Quran Competition in Tehran, Iran in 2022 at the age of 13. Also, in 2020, he won the Hafezul Quran Competition organized by Banglavision Television in the month of Ramadan.Hafez Saleh Ahmad Takrim participated in the 42nd King Abdulaziz International Hafezul Quran Competition held in Mecca, Saudi Arabia in 2022, in which 153 Hafez from 111 countries participated. In the fourth category of the competition, Hafez Saleh Ahmad Takrim won the third place and won a prize of 1 lakh riyals. Takreem won the first place in the 26th edition of the Dubai International Quran Competition in 2023.
