The Tilburg International [1] was a men's and women's open international clay court tennis tournament was founded in 1968. [2] Tournament was first played at the Tennis Club Tilburg, Tilburg, Netherlands. [2] It was played annually till 1979. [2]

History

The tournament was established in 1968 at the Tennis Club Tilburg, Tilburg, Netherlands. [2] the event was usually held in July, but was moved to September towards the end of its run in 1979 when it was discontinued. [2] [3] The tournament was part of the ILTF World Circuit from 1968 to 1969 for men, and till 1972 for women. [2] It was then part of the ILTF Independent Circuit from 1970 to 1979 for men and women from 1973 to 1979. [2]

The 1977 Colgate-Palmolive Grand Prix was a professional tennis circuit administered by the International Lawn Tennis Federation which served as a forerunner to the current Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. The circuit consisted of the four modern Grand Slam tournaments and open tournaments recognised by the ILTF. The Colgate-Palmolive Masters is included in this calendar but did not count towards the Grand Prix ranking. Colgate-Palmolive was the new tour sponsor, taking over from Commercial Union. Guillermo Vilas won the Grand Prix circuit, having accumulated the most points (2,047), and received the largest share from the bonus pool ($300,000). The top eight points ranked singles players as well as the top four doubles teams qualified for the season-ending Masters tournament

The 1972 ILTF Women's Tennis Circuit was the 58th season since the founding of the International Lawn Tennis Association and was the final season to be solely administered by the ILTF.

The Western Championships also known as the Western States Championships or Western Sectional Championships was a men's and women's open tennis tournament staged annually at various locations from 1887 until 1978.

The Moroccan International Championships or Championnats Internationaux Marocains was a men's and women's international clay court tennis tournament founded in 1925 as the Moroccan Championships or Championnats du Maroc. The tournament first held in Casablanca, Morocco. It was held annually until 1974 when it was discontinued as part of the worldwide ILTF Circuit.

The March of Dimes Open also known as the March of Dimes Tennis Tournament was an international men's and women's hardcourt tennis tournament founded in 1955. The Central California Championships also known as the Central California Open Championships was a men's and women's international hard court tennis tournament was founded in 1911. It was first played at Stockton Tennis Club Stockton, California, United States. It was also hosted at other locations throughout its run until 1972 when it was discontinued.

The Leaside Invitation was a men's and women's open international clay court tennis tournament was founded in 1954. The tournament was first played at the Leaside Tennis Club, Toronto, Canada. It was played annually till 1970.
