Tim Barling (born 21 June 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond and the Sydney Swans in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL).
Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, or simply called Aussie rules, football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of eighteen players on an oval-shaped field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval-shaped ball between goal posts or between goal and "behind" posts.
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is a professional Australian rules football club playing in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Between its inception in Richmond, Melbourne in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League in 1908 and has since won eleven premierships, most recently in 2017.
The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club which plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). Established in Melbourne as the South Melbourne Football Club in 1874, the Swans relocated to Sydney in 1982, thus making it the first club in the competition to be based outside Victoria.
Barling, ruckman from Birchip, made his league debut for Richmond in the final round of the 1984 season, against Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. [1] The following year he played 13 games. [2]

He was one of many players recruited from other clubs by the Sydney Swans prior to the 1986 season, but missed the first half of the year with a knee injury. [3] Once he recovered, he was told by the club that they were unable to grant him a playing permit due to the salary cap. [3] He returned to Birchip, with a promise that he would play for the Swans in 1987. [3] However, during pre-season trials in 1987, Barling again injured his knee and required a knee reconstruction. [4] [5] He finally debuted for Sydney in 1989, playing five games that year, from round 17 to the end of the season. [2] In 1990 he made a further eight appearances. [2]
Barry Round played for Footscray and South Melbourne/Sydney in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1969 and 1985. Along the way, he played 328 games, won a Brownlow Medal in 1981 and was the Swans' first captain during the Sydney era. Round's height and weight was 193 cm and 108 kg.
The 2002 Australian Football League season was the 106th season of the elite Australian rules football competition and the 13th under the name 'Australian Football League', having switched from 'Victorian Football League' after 1989.
Paul Roos is a former Australian rules footballer and senior coach in the Australian Football League (AFL). Roos represented Fitzroy and Sydney during the 1980s and 1990s. Roos was the senior coach of the Sydney Swans and Melbourne Football Club from 2002 to 2010 and 2013 to 2016 respectively.
