The troposphere is the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere, and is also where nearly all weather conditions take place. It contains 75% of the atmosphere's mass and 99% of the total mass of water vapour and aerosols. The average height of the troposphere is 18 km in the tropics, 17 km in the middle latitudes, and 6 km in the polar regions in winter. The total average height of the troposphere is 13 km.

The doctrine of lapse was an occupation policy applied by the British East India Company in India until 1859. Many Indian states were occupied by Lord Dalhousie, the Governor General of India to the English East India Company. Time-lapse photography is a technique whereby the frequency at which film frames are captured is much more spread out than the frequency used to view the sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. For example, an image of a scene may be captured at 1 frame per second, but then played back at 30 frames per second; the result is an apparent 30 times speed increase. In a similar manner, film can also be played at a much lower rate than at which it was captured, slowing down an otherwise fast action, as in slow motion or high-speed photography.
An excited utterance, in the law of evidence, is a statement made by a person in response to a startling or shocking event or condition. It is an unplanned reaction to a "startling event". It is an exception to the hearsay rule. The statement must be spontaneously made by the person while still under the stress of excitement from the event or condition. The subject matter and content of the statement must "relate to" event or condition. The statement could be a description or explanation, or an opinion or inference. Examples include: "Look out! We're going to crash!" or "I think he's crazy. He's shooting at us!" The basis for this hearsay exception is the belief that a statement made under the stress is likely to be trustworthy and unlikely to be a premeditated falsehood. Compared to present sense impression, excited utterance is broader in scope for permitting a longer time lapse between event and statement, and a wider range of content in the statement.

In meteorology, convective instability or stability of an air mass refers to its ability to resist vertical motion. A stable atmosphere makes vertical movement difficult, and small vertical disturbances dampen out and disappear. A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour was two consecutive concert tours by the British rock band Pink Floyd. The A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour ran from September 1987 to August 1988; the Another Lapse Tour ran from May – July 1989. Both tours in support of their album A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987). The tour was the band's first since The Wall Tour in 1981, and also the first without the band's original bassist Roger Waters. The band later reprised the set-list and stage show of this tour for their performance at Knebworth Park in 1990.

Hyperlapse is a mobile app created by Instagram that enables users to produce hyperlapse and time-lapse videos. It was released on August 26, 2014. The app enables users to record videos up to 45 minutes of footage in a single take, which can be subsequently accelerated to create a hyperlapse cinematographic effect. Whereas time-lapses are normally produced by stitching together stills from traditional cameras, the app uses an image stabilization algorithm that steadies the appearance of video by eliminating jitter. Unlike Instagram, the app offers no filters. Instead, the only post-production option available to users is the modification of playback speed which can range from 1x to 40x normal playback speed.
