Timothy David Johnston (born 1949) [1] is an English-born American developmental psychologist who specializes in the evolution and development of behavior. [2] He is a professor of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC Greensboro), where he is also Dean Emeritus of the College of Arts & Sciences. He served as Dean of the UNC Greensboro's College of Arts & Sciences from 2002 to 2016, as president of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences from 2014 to 2015, and as Head of the Department of Psychology at UNC Greensboro from 1997 to 2002. Billy Godwin is an American college baseball coach and former pitcher. He is the head baseball coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Godwin played college baseball at Atlantic Christian College in 1986. He was the head baseball coach of East Carolina from 2006 to 2014. In 2015, Godwin was listed as an area scout, based in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball.

Herbert Holden Thorp is an American chemist, professor and entrepreneur. He was the tenth chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, assuming the position on July 1, 2008, succeeding James Moeser, and, at age 43, was noted as being among the youngest leaders of a university in the United States. At the time of his selection as chancellor, Thorp was the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and a Kenan Professor of chemistry at the university. Thorp is a 1986 graduate of UNC; he later earned a Ph.D in chemistry from California Institute of Technology, and was a postdoctoral associate at Yale University.

Warren Weston Miller is an American basketball coach and former player, who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Cincinnati. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, he played at the collegiate level for James Madison University and the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, where he graduated in 2007. Professionally, Miller played for London Capital of the British Basketball League. Prior to that, he was head coach at UNC Greensboro, and served stints as an assistant coach at Elon University and High Point University.

Kevin Guskiewicz is an American academic administrator who is the 12th chancellor and 30th chief executive of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He gained prominence as a neuroscientist, sports medicine researcher, and Kenan Distinguished Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is one of the Principal Investigators of the Injury Prevention Research Center, and directs the Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center. He is a 2011 MacArthur Fellow. On January 1, 2016, he became Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at UNC-Chapel Hill. On February 6, 2019, he was announced as interim chancellor, and on December 13, 2019, he was named chancellor by the UNC Board of Governors.

The 2011–12 UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Spartans began the year coached by Mike Dement who resigned after ten games. Wes Miller was named interim coach on December 13, 2011, and became the youngest Division I men's basketball coach in the nation. The team plays its home games at Greensboro Coliseum and are members of the North Division of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 13–19, 10–8 in SoCon play to be champions of the North Division. They lost in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Basketball tournament to Western Carolina.

Alexander Chigogidze was a Georgian-born general topologist. Chigogidze is best known for his book Inverse Spectra, in which he passed on to the next generation of topologists the results of the Fedorchuk -Schepin Topology seminars held at the Moscow State University during the 1980s. The book also contains important contributions Chigogidze made in the area of General Topology and Geometric Topology. In the area of General Topology, Chigogidze developed extension theory for noncompact nonmetrizable spaces. In the area of Geometric Topology, Chigogidze introduced grading to shape theory by developing a theory n-Shape where n is an arbitrary integer. This was a major addendum to the existing n-Homotopy theory.

John Z. Kiss is an American biologist known for his work on the gravitational and space biology of plants. Kiss is dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Previously, he was a professor of biology and dean of the Graduate School at the University of Mississippi. and distinguished professor and chair of the botany department at Miami University. He has worked with NASA since 1987 and served as principal investigator on eight spaceflight experiments on the Space Shuttle, the former Russian space station Mir, and on the International Space Station. His research focuses on the sensory physiology of plants in space. He received the NASA Outstanding Public Leadership Medal in 2014. In 2021, Asteroid Kiss 8267 was named in his honor, a recognition that coincided with his receipt of the 2021 COSPAR International Cooperation Medal. His international collaboration on a spaceflight project with NASA and the European Space Agency has led to the discovery of novel sensory mechanisms in plants.

The 2021–22 UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Spartans, led by first-year head coach Mike Jones, played their home games at the Greensboro Coliseum and Fleming Gymnasium in Greensboro, North Carolina as members of the Southern Conference (SoCon). They finished the season 17–14, 9–9 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for fifth place. As the No. 6 seed in the SoCon tournament, they lost to Samford in the quarterfinals. Guard De'Monte Buckingham was named to the Southern Conference Sports Media Association third team. They accepted an invitation to play in the 2022 College Basketball Invitational tournament where, as a No. 7 seed, they lost to No. 10-seeded Boston University in the first round.

Lynne Agee is a retired women's college basketball coach. Agee started her coaching career with William Fleming High School, where she had 94 wins and 16 losses from 1971 to 1978. With the Roanoke Lady Maroons from 1978 to 1981, Agee had 46 wins and 23 losses. Her team also made it to the first round of the 1981 AIAW women's basketball tournament for Division III. With the UNC Greensboro Spartans women's basketball team from 1981 to 2011, Agee was the university's coach in Division III, Division II and Division I basketball.
