Timothy Marbun (born March 21, 1982, in Lhokseumawe, North Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam) is an Indonesian presenter.

Early life

He lived in Aceh, Jakarta, and in Oklahoma in his childhood, before finally settling in Jakarta. Marbun is the son of Dimpos Marbun and Rosliwaty Siregar. [1]

He is an alumnus of Jakarta 70 Public High School and the University of East London/HELP University, Kuala Lumpur.

Career

He began his journalism career at Indosiar. Marbun filled in at the Fokus Pagi on Indosiar and became one of the main male presenters in the program Fokus Pagi . He covered social upheavals in Middle Eastern countries and bloody demonstrations in Bangkok, Thailand.

Marbun is one of the owners of the "Sabang 16" Coffee Shop in the Tebet area of Jakarta. [2] Marbun was chosen as the "Most Favorite Bachelor" in the 2011 version of Cleo Indonesia Magazine. [3] He is active in Kompas TV as a producer and news reader, and hosted Kata Kita. [4] [5] [6]

In 2011, he started working for Kompas TV. [7] Marbun, Bayu Sutiyono, and Cindy Sistyarani from TV One all moved to Kompas TV. Marbun, Sutiyono and Glory Rosary Oyong [8] guided the program Sapa Indonesia at Kompas TV. [8]

On June 30, 2013, Timothy married Sumi Yang at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta. [9]

He has a son, Russell Marbun, named after a character from "Up!" [10]

PT Cipta Megaswara Televisi, operating as Kompas TV, is an Indonesian national terrestrial private news television broadcaster. It is owned by the KG Media unit of Kompas Gramedia Group and is named after its flagship property, the Kompas daily newspaper. Digital terrestrial television in Indonesia (DVB-T2) started in 2009, and in most areas runs alongside the analogue TV system. The first phase of nationwide analog shutdown was done in 166 regencies and cities, including Dumai, Banda Aceh, Batam, Tanjungpinang, Serang, Bali, Samarinda, Tanjung Selor, Tarakan, Makassar and Jayapura, starting on 30 April 2022 and it simplified in three stages. An analog broadcasting station in Jakarta along with 173 regencies/cities non-terrestrial services was officially signed off on 2 November 2022 at midnight. Batam, Bandung, Semarang, Surakarta and Yogyakarta followed on 2 December 2022, Surabaya on 20 December 2022, Banjarmasin on 20 March 2023, Bali and Palembang on 31 March 2023, Makassar on 20 June 2023 and Medan on 30 July 2023. On 15 July 2023, at midnight, Trans Media and Emtek/SCM officially completed the shutdown. On 31 July 2023, at midnight, Viva Group, RTV, and NET TV officially completed the shutdown of analog broadcast nationwide, followed by MNC Group on 1 August 2023 at midnight.
