After returning from Morocco,Morris was Sahel Coordinator at the Foreign Office,Special Envoy to the South Sudan peace talks, and chargéd'affaires in the Democratic Republic of Congo. [3]
After six months in Kinshasa,in 2015 he was appointed as the fourth British Ambassador to the South Sudan. [4] While serving in that post,in January 2016 he called for "peace now". The implementation of the peace agreement should not be delayed, and the actual mechanism was a matter for the government and other parties to agree. "The constitution should incorporate the peace agreement and the transitional government should be set up." [8]
In April 2017 he was succeeded in the South Sudan by Alison Blackburne. [9]
After his retirement,Morris became a consultant. [10]
