The mainland serow or Chinese serow is a species of goat antelope native to China and Southeast Asia. The name "mainland serow" was formerly referring to Capricornis sumatraensis, which used to be the scientific name for all serows in the mainland and Sumatra when they were all considered to be the same species. Three species subsequently split from Capricornis sumatraensis and this scientific name now only refers to the serows in Sumatra and Malaysia.
The Lecithocerinae are a subfamily of small moths in the family Lecithoceridae. They are found worldwide, but most species occur in South Asia. The red serow is a goat-antelope thought to be native to southern Bangladesh and northern Burma. It has been considered a subspecies of C. sumatraensis. In the northeastern part of India, the red serow occurs widely in the hills south of the Brahmaputra river. although the IUCN states that this species is recorded with certainty only from Myanmar, in Kachin State, and that records in India refer to the Himalayan serow.
The Sumatran serow, also known as the southern serow, is a species of goat-antelope native to mountain forests in the Thai-Malay Peninsula and on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The former name of this species is "mainland serow", as all the mainland species of serow were previously considered subspecies of this species. The Sumatran serow is threatened due to habitat loss and hunting, leading to it being evaluated as vulnerable by the IUCN.
