Tixbase, formerly known as NFT-TIX, is a blockchain-based ticketing platform founded in 2019 by Emil R. Ljesnjanin. The company provides fully branded B2C and C2C ticketing solutions [1] that are traceable, tied to verified identities, and include resale conditions. The platform aims to enhance fan engagement and security through innovative technology.
History
Initially operating under the name NFT-TIX, the company rebranded to Tixbase to reflect its expanded services beyond non-fungible token (NFT) ticketing. In 2022, Tixbase collaborated with EXIT Festival [2] to implement blockchain technology for ticket sales, making EXIT one of the first major music events to utilize NFT tickets. This initiative led to Tixbase receiving the Innovation Award at the 17th UK Festival Awards in 2022. [3]
In May 2023, Tixbase secured a multi-year partnership [4] with Unum Festival, a prominent music event in Albania. This collaboration aimed to provide a seamless and secure ticketing experience, allowing festival-goers to purchase tickets at face value without additional fees.
In August 2024, Tixbase entered into a five-year exclusive partnership with Passo, [5] [6] Turkey's leading event ticketing company. This collaboration aims to enhance security, transparency, and user experience in the ticketing industry while regulating the secondary market. The partnership involves integrating Tixbase's blockchain, TixChain, into Passo's ticketing ecosystem, which handles over 25 million tickets annually, including the Süper Lig.
Technology
Tixbase leverages the Avalanche blockchain and biometric technology to provide secure ticketing solutions. The platform offers features such as smart tickets, customizable mobile apps, and white-label resale solutions. In October 2024, Tixbase acquired Spotlite, [7] a no-code platform that enables event organizers to create custom mobile apps tailored to their events. This acquisition allows Tixbase to offer an integrated solution for managing ticketing and event mobile apps, enhancing the overall fan experience.
Awards and Recognition
In 2022, Tixbase, in collaboration with EXIT Festival, won the Innovation Award at the UK Festival Awards [8] for their implementation of blockchain technology in ticketing.
