Tom Lips (born June 25, 1968) is a retired American soccer defender who played professionally in the USISL, Major League Soccer and Swiss First Division. He currently coaches the Long Island Lady Riders in the USL W-League.
Lips grew up on Long Island in Hauppuage NY where he played youth, club and travel soccer. He attended Hauppauge High School. [1] Lips began his career in 1986 with FC Olten in the Swiss Second Division. He then returned to the United States where he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, playing on the men’s soccer team from 1987 to 1991. After completing his collegiate eligibility, he moved to Switzerland where he played for FC St. Gallen from 1991 to 1994. He then played for the North Jersey Imperials in the USISL before moving to the New York Fever. In February 1996, the New England Revolution selected Lips in the 1996 MLS Inaugural Player Draft. He played eight games with the Revs. On March 29, 1997, the Long Island Rough Riders of the USISL signed Lips. [2] [3] In 1999, he played for the Boston Bulldogs in the USL A-League. Lips played several games with the Puerto Rico national football team.
He has coached the Smithtown West High School boys soccer team. In 2006, he was hired to coach the Long Island Lady Riders in the USL W-League. He also coaches and trains with U12 kids on the Smithtown kickers program.

The Long Island Rough Riders, formerly known as the Long Island Lady Riders, is an American women's soccer team, based out of Long Island, New York. Founded in 1994, the team was under the ownership of Chuck Jacob, who at the time also owned the men's Long Island Rough Riders up until 1997 before selling it to Frank Boulton. At this time, the Rough Riders transitioned names and became known as the Lady Riders for several years. In 2007, the Rough Riders acquired territorial and franchise rights to the women's Lady Riders team. For the first time since 1997, the men's and women's teams would be under the same name and they have been ever since. The Rough Riders were an original member of the USL W-League and played in all 21 seasons before the league disbanded in late 2015. The team was a member of United Women's Soccer from 2016-2021. They now play in the second version of the USL W League.
Darren Sawatzky is an American soccer coach and former player who is currently the head coach of the Richmond Kickers in USL League One. He spent four seasons in Major League Soccer, one season in the Major Indoor Soccer League, one in USISL and five in the United Soccer Leagues. He currently holds several coaching positions at the high school, collegiate and professional levels and was the Director of Youth Development for Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. In January 2015, he was named head coach of the Tacoma Stars of the Major Arena Soccer League.

He was the goalkeeper coach for the United States U-17 men's national soccer team between 2007 and 2012. He has been a FIFA Instructor and assistant coach with Chivas USA of Major League Soccer. He has also been professionally affiliated with Athletes Helping Athletes and SAFE, organizations that provide lifeskills development and training to student athletes. Paul's current professional role is Technical Director for Major League Soccer.

The 1995 USWISL, also known as the 1995 Nike W League for sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural season of the United States Women's Interregional Soccer League (USWISL), which later became the USL W-League. Operated by the USISL, it was the highest division of women's soccer in the United States at the time. The Long Island Lady Riders were crowned champions after defeating the Southern California Nitemares in the Championship game.
