He played in the Football League with Nelson, making almost 60 first-team appearances for the club in a four-year spell. He also played with several non-league sides throughout his career, including Barnoldswick Town.

David Stobbie Cochrane was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a centre forward. Born in Dunblane, he started his career with Dunblane Rovers before moving to Denny Hibernian in 1927. After scoring 16 goals in the first three months of the 1927–28 season, Cochrane was signed by Football League Third Division North club Nelson. He made his debut for the club on 12 November 1927, and scored a consolation goal in the 1–9 defeat away at Bradford City, Nelson's heaviest ever defeat in the Football League. Cochrane scored again a week later in the 3–2 win over Halifax Town. He made his final first-team appearance for Nelson on 26 November 1927 in the 0–3 defeat to Bradford Park Avenue in the First Round of the FA Cup.
John Brown was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an outside forward. Despite hailing from Glasgow, he started his career with Broxburn, near Edinburgh, and later played for Armadale in the Scottish Football League Second Division. He returned to his birthplace to join Shawfield, before re-entering League football with East Stirlingshire in August 1921. After a trial spell with St Johnstone, Brown found himself with Brechin City in the Scottish Third Division. In 1925, he was signed by First Division outfit Morton, and in a single season with the club he netted 7 goals in 21 first-team appearances.
Tom Carmedy was an English professional footballer who played predominantly as a centre forward. He began his career in local-league football with his hometown club, Gainford, before joining Football League side Darlington in 1927. He later played for Nelson and Barrow, before returning to non-league football.
Robert Gartside was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward. He made one appearance in the Football League for Nelson, but played the majority of his career in non-league football He has also played over 50 times for Barnoldswick and more than 30 times for Trawden as well as starting 100 games for his clubs.
Joseph Adam Halliwell was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward. He started his senior career with Preston North End and scored 10 goals in 22 league matches during the 1912–13 season as the team won the Football League Second Division. After making four further appearances for Preston at the start of the following campaign, Halliwell transferred to Barnsley in December 1913. He remained at Oakwell for 14 years and played 312 league games for the club, scoring 83 goals.
Thomas George Hayes was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a centre forward or an inside forward. Born in Port Talbot, he played for the Wales Schoolboys team as a youngster and had spells with Port Talbot Athletic and Bridgend Town. In the summer of 1927, Hayes moved to England to join Barnsley, but he never made a senior appearance for the club. He transferred to Third Division North side Nelson in March 1928, one of several new signings by the club as they strove to avoid finishing bottom of the league.
Arthur Jones was an English professional footballer who played as a left-back. Born in Birmingham, he started his career in non-League football with Heywood before joining Football League Third Division North club Nelson as an amateur in May 1927. He was then awarded a professional contract in October of the same year. Jones made his senior debut for Nelson on 4 February 1928 in the 0–3 defeat away at Durham City. The match did not go well for Jones as he was at fault for two of the opposition goals. He never made another Football League appearance and left Nelson in May 1928.

John McGuire was an English professional footballer who played for four different Football League clubs. Primarily a centre forward, he could also play as an inside forward and was occasionally used at left-half. Born in Darlington, County Durham, he began his career in non-League football with Northern Football League side Darlington Railway Athletic. He later had a spell with Cockfield before joining Football League Third Division South club Charlton Athletic in August 1925. In his first season with the London club he made six league appearances as the team finished 21st in the division and were forced to apply for re-election.
William Morton was an English footballer who played as a centre forward. Most likely born in Northumberland, he played the majority of his career in local-league football but also had spells in The Football League. Morton played for Bedlington P.M. and Newbiggin West End before joining Third Division North side Durham City in 1927. However, he was unable to break into the first-team and did not make a senior appearance for the club. He left Durham the following year and returned to non-League football with Craghead United. In January 1929, Morton was signed by Third Division North outfit Nelson, initially as an amateur. He scored twice on his debut in the 4–1 win against Stockport County on 22 January and was awarded a professional contract the following month. He went on to score three goals in eight League appearances for Nelson, but he was unable to displace Bernard Radford as the club's first-choice centre forward, and was not retained at the end of the 1928–29 season.
Frank Thomas Parry was an English professional footballer who played as an outside forward. Born in Aigburth, Liverpool, he began his playing career with Everton and made 12 league appearances for the club, making his debut in the 1–2 defeat to Manchester City on 26 December 1922. During his time at Goodison Park, he was never able to replace Sam Chedgzoy as the club's first choice right-winger, and in June 1926 he joined Football League Second Division side Grimsby Town. However, despite being described as "a skilful and polished winger", Parry again struggled to break into the first team and played just one league match in the 1926–27 season.
James Stevens Pearson was an English professional footballer who played as a full back. He was born in Heywood, Lancashire, and began his career in non-League football with his hometown club in the early 1920s. In April 1925, Pearson joined Football League Third Division North side Nelson, initially as an amateur, although he was offered a professional contract in September of the same year. He made his debut for Nelson on 3 October 1925 in the 0–1 defeat away at Coventry City and appeared in the following five matches, but then spent the majority of the 1925–26 season in the reserve team. During the 1926–27 campaign, Pearson was more involved in first-team activities and appeared in more than half of Nelson's league fixtures, although he was never able to properly displace club captain Clem Rigg from the left-back berth. He returned to the reserves for the 1927–28 season, making only seven senior appearances. Following a disappointing campaign in which the team finished bottom of the division, Nelson retained only six of their professional squad in the summer of 1928, and Pearson was one of several players to leave the club.
Bernard Radford was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward, and occasionally as an inside forward. Born in West Melton, West Riding of Yorkshire, Radford began his career in local league football with Wath Athletic, Wombwell and Darfield, before signing as a professional with Football League Third Division North side Nelson in December 1927. He made his League debut in the 0–1 defeat to Doncaster Rovers on 17 December, and scored his first three goals for Nelson on 7 January 1928 as the side beat Rochdale 6–3. Radford scored all four goals in the 4–0 victory against Wrexham on 11 February, becoming only the second Nelson player, after Jimmy Hampson, to achieve the feat in a League match.
Leslie Raisbeck was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward. He made a total of 31 appearances in the Football League for Stockport County and Nelson, and was Nelson's top scorer in the 1930–31 season with 15 goals.
Percy Roberts was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a centre forward. Born in Wrexham, he played youth football with Oak Alyn Rovers and later joined his hometown club Wrexham. He signed for Oswestry Town in the close season of 1925, spending one season with the team before joining Football League Third Division North side Nelson in August 1926. Roberts made his debut for the Lancashire club away at Stoke on 11 September 1926, in place of Jimmy Hampson, who was unavailable through injury. Although he was reported by the local newspaper to have "bustled about with some purpose", Nelson were defeated 1–4 despite a goal from Scottish forward Buchanan Sharp.
William George Ruffell was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward. He was the younger brother of Jimmy Ruffell, who made more than 500 league appearances for West Ham United and won six caps for the England national football team.
Edwin Simpson was an English professional footballer who played as a left-half. Born in Chilton, County Durham, he played 17 matches in the Football League for Nelson and also had spells in non-League football.
George Robert Spence was an English professional footballer who played as an outside forward. Born in Burnley, he started his career in local-league football with Colne Town. On 8 October 1927, Spence signed as an amateur with Football League Third Division North side Nelson and made his debut for the club in the 3–3 draw with Chesterfield later the same day alongside fellow new signing, goalkeeper William Bossons. He was awarded a professional contract two weeks later and went on to keep his place in the starting eleven for the following seven matches. Spence scored his first goal in senior football in the 4–2 win against Hartlepools United at Seedhill on 5 November 1927, a match which also featured a hat-trick from centre forward Buchanan Sharp.
