Tommy Gustafsson (born 2 July 1948), known as Tommy "Gyxa" Gustafsson, is a Swedish former footballer who played as a forward.

Career

Gustafsson began his football career in the small club, Åstorps IF, which he represented from age ten in 1958 until 1969. [1] In 1970, he transferred to Landskrona BoIS, where he contributed to the promotion of this club to the Swedish top league, Allsvenskan, already during his first season for the club. [2] He scored the opening goal in the first qualifying match (of three), against Sandvikens IF in front of 15 685 attenders at Landskrona IP. [3] Two seasons later "Gyxa" and his Landskrona BoIS won the Swedish Cup. He also contributed to the clubs Allsvenskan bronze medals in 1975 and 1976. [4] In the beginning of his time in BoIS, he played forward together with Sonny Johansson and Dan Brzokoupil. During his two last seasons for Landskrona BoIS, he played as midfielder instead. He represented Landskrona BoIS at 326 occasions and scored 56 goals. [5] After the 1978 season he stepped down and played for the small club Kågeröds BIF [6]

Personal life

He is the father of the current coach at IFK Norrköping, Jens Gustafsson.

His nickname was not related to football; as a young kid he could simply not pronounce his surname and "Gustafsson" became "Gyxa", [7] and it is under that nickname he is remembered among the Landskrona BoIS supporters. He is still a frequent guest at Landskrona BoIS' home games. In the autumn of 2013 he was one of the most well-known people who signed a successful protest against introducing artificial turf at his former home ground as footballer. [8]

Hans "Hasse" Persson, often called HP, was a Swedish football forward who in his time was immensely popular in the football club Landskrona BoIS.

Sonny Johansson is a former Swedish football player, who between 1968 and 1984 represented Landskrona BoIS. He played in Allsvenskan during ten seasons, 1971 until 1980. Even though he never won the top scorer competition in any single year during the 1970s, he scored more goals than any other Allsvenskan player during the entire decade. Other achievements for his club included the promotion to Allsvenskan in 1970, winning the Swedish Cup final 1972 and two Allsvenskan bronze medals for the 1975 and 1976 seasons. He also played 3 caps for the Swedish national team, and scored one goal. There were voices that suggested that he would have represented Sweden at many more occasions if it was not for the Swedish national manager of the time, Georg "Åby" Ericson. The supporters of Landskrona BoIS gave him the nickname "Kung Sune, vår vän". In English "King Sune, our friend". Sonny Johansson played 638 games for the club and scored 310 goals.

Kjell Lindstrand is a former Swedish footballer, who between 1959 and 1971 represented Landskrona BoIS at 393 occasions Twelve of these was qualifying matches for promotion to the Swedish top league Allsvenskan, a Swedish record. In 1965 he was awarded the gold medal for sport achievements by the city of Landskrona. After the club's failed attempts to reach Allsvenskan including lost qualifications in 1959, 1962 and 1968, Lindstrand finally contributed to the promotion of BoIS to Allsvenskan in 1970. He played thereafter only two more matches for Landskrona BoIS, in the 1971 Allsvenskan season. He is remembered for his faithfulness towards his club.

Göran Petersson is a former Swedish footballer and midfielder that represented Landskrona BoIS between 1973 and 1989.

Stefan Nilsson is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder or defender. He spent all of his professional career with Landskrona BoIS. At international level, he made 11 appearances for the Sweden U-21 national team.
