The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago. The Bears compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) North Division. The Bears have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and hold the NFL record for the most enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the most retired jersey numbers. The Bears have also recorded the second-most victories of any NFL franchise, only behind the Green Bay Packers, who they have a long-standing rivalry with.
Julius Frazier Peppers is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end and linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels, where he was recognized as a unanimous All-American, and was selected by the Carolina Panthers second overall in the 2002 NFL draft, and also played for the Chicago Bears from 2010 through 2013 and the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2016. After rejoining the Panthers for the 2017 season, he retired after the 2018 NFL season.
John Gary Fencik is an American former football safety who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons with the Chicago Bears. He played college football for the Yale Bulldogs and was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the tenth round of the 1976 NFL Draft. He was a once first-team All-Pro and twice Pro Bowl selection. Fencik is the Bears all-time leader in interceptions and total tackles. He was also part of the 1985 Bears team that won the franchise's first Super Bowl title in the Super Bowl XX.
George Anderson McAfee was an American football halfback, defensive back and return specialist who played for the Chicago Bears from 1940 to 1941 and 1945 to 1950 in the National Football League (NFL). As an undergraduate at Duke University, McAfee starred in baseball and track and field as well as college football. McAfee was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. As of 2018, he still holds the NFL record for punt return average in a career.
David Patrick Ragone is an American football coach and former player who currently serves as quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was most recently the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons and previously served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bears, Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans.
Lance Marell Briggs is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Arizona Wildcats and was selected by the Bears in the third round of the 2003 NFL draft, where he played his entire 12-year career. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection. Briggs played alongside Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher during his tenure with the Bears. The two would be regarded as one of the greatest linebacker tandems in NFL history.
Robert Paul Gould III is an American former professional football player who was a placekicker for 18 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), primarily with the Chicago Bears. He played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Gould was originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He played with the Bears from 2005 to 2015, earning first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 2006, and became the franchise's all-time leading scorer. Gould also played for the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.
Josh James Sitton is an American former professional football player who was a guard in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the UCF Knights and was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL draft. He made four Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLV with the Packers, and also played two seasons with the Chicago Bears and one season with the Miami Dolphins. After 11 seasons in the NFL, Sitton announced his retirement on April 4, 2019. He officially retired with the Packers on December 4, 2019. He was inducted to the Packers Hall of Fame in 2023.
Allen Bernard Robinson II is an American football wide receiver who is a free agent. He played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions, earning first-team All-American honors in 2013. Robinson was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He played for the Jaguars for four seasons before signing with the Chicago Bears in 2018. Robinson has also played for the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers.
