The University of Surrey is a public research university in Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom. The university is interdisciplinary, with a science and engineering heritage. It received its charter on 9 September 1966, and was for more than 60 year prior near Battersea Park in south-west London. The institution was known as Battersea College of Technology before gaining university status. Its roots, however, go back to the Battersea Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1891 to provide further and higher education for London's poorer inhabitants. More recently, the university launched the Surrey International Institute with Dongbei University of Finance and Economics.

Tony Myatt (born 7, July 1938) is a UK radio presenter. He has previously worked at the BBC, on Channel 4, on Jazz FM, on Capital Radio, on PrimeTime Radio, Radio Mercury and on Saga DAB radio stations.

Channel 4 is a British public-service free-to-air television network that began transmission on 2 November 1982. Although largely commercially- self-funded, it is ultimately publicly-owned; originally a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), the station is now owned and operated by Channel Four Television Corporation, a public corporation of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, which was established in 1990 and came into operation in 1993. With the conversion of the Wenvoe transmitter group in Wales to digital terrestrial broadcasting on 31 March 2010, Channel 4 became a UK-wide TV channel for the first time.

He is credited by many as the first man to play Kate Bush on the radio and also interviewed her 'live' on his Capital Radio show.[ citation needed ]

Catherine Bush is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer. Bush came to notice in 1978 when, aged 19, she topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks with her debut single "Wuthering Heights", becoming the first female artist to achieve a UK number one with a self-written song. She has since released 25 UK Top 40 singles, including the top-10 hits "The Man with the Child in His Eyes", "Babooshka", "Running Up That Hill", "Don't Give Up" and "King of the Mountain". She has released ten studio albums, all of which reached the UK Top 10, including the UK number-one albums Never for Ever (1980), Hounds of Love (1985), and the compilation The Whole Story (1986). She is the first British solo female artist to top the UK album charts and the first female artist to enter the album chart at number one.

Tony hosted Beat the Intro telephone quiz on Capital Radio in 1974/1975 whereby listeners were asked the name of the piece of music before the singing started.

Capital London British radio station

Capital London is a regional radio station owned and operated by Global Radio as part of the Capital radio network.

In the early to mid 80s, Tony hosted a request show on BBC World Service radio called the Tony Myatt Request Show. Listeners wrote in to request songs and dedications. This show was also hosted by Sandi Jones (aptly called theSandi Jones Request Show). The two presenters used to take turns for almost a quarter each, alternately.

Tony most recently presented the pre-recorded overnight show on 102.2 Smooth Radio in London for two years, replaced by networked output from Manchester in March 2009.
