Torzhok (air base) ( ICAO : XXXX, FAA LID : XXX) is a military airfield located in Torzhok, Russia. [1] [2] [3]

The base is home to the 696th Instructor Test Helicopter Regiment and the Aerobatic Team - Eagles, both as part of the 344th Centre for Combat use and Retraining of Flight Personnel of Army Aviation. [4]

It has in residence the 344th Center for Combat Employment and Retraining of Personnel of Army Aviation. [5] The center operates the "Golden Eagles" combat helicopter aerobatic team. The 696th Regiment tests all current models and modifications of Russian military helicopters. The center uses Ka-50, Mi-8, Mi-24, Mi-26, and Mil Mi-28Н helicopters for training purposes.

The Center has a helicopter museum. Tours are organized by prior agreement with the leadership of the military unit.

Every year, the center hosts an "Open Day" for residents and guests of the city.

Ostrov is a Russian Air Force air base in Pskov Oblast, Russia located 7 km southeast of Ostrov and 57 km south of Pskov. It was subordinate to the Baltic Fleet and was a nuclear bomber facility with 15 very large revetments on the east side of the airfield and about 30 small revetments on the west side. As many as 63 Tupolev Tu-16s were based here. A US intelligence analysis in 1984 identified a normal complement of 52 Tu-16 aircraft at Ostrov. The base hosted the Russian Navy's 444th Center for Combat Employment and Retraining of Personnel Naval Aviation.

In 1954 it was transferred to Voronezh Malshevo and 1960 to the Lipetsk air base, and then was transformed into the 4th Center deployment and retraining flight personnel of the Air Force. It was part of the Air Forces of the Moscow Military District for decades.
