Tottus is a chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets owned by the Chilean retail company S.A.C.I. Falabella, with a presence in both Peru and Chile. As of 2019, Tottus had 157 locations; 89 in Peru and 70 in Chile. [1]

History

The company was established in 2002, opened its first supermarket in the Lima Norte area of Lima, Peru. In order to expand into the supermarket sector, Falabella bought the company "Supermercados San Francisco" from the Leyton Group in July 2004 for US$62.5 million. The first hypermarket with the Tottus brand was opened in Puente Alto, Santiago de Chile on 14 December 2005.

Falabella is a Chilean multinational company. It is the largest retail company in Chile followed by Cencosud and one of the largest in Latin America. It operates its flagship Falabella department stores in addition to Mall Plaza shopping centers, Tottus hyper & supermarkets, Banco Falabella banks, and Sodimac home improvement centers. The company has 491 stores and 42 shopping malls. The stores are divided into 111 department stores branded as Falabella, 251 home improvement stores under the brand Sodimac and 129 supermarkets branded as Tottus. In Peru the company owned the Saga Falabella, listed in the Lima Stock Exchange. It was renamed to Falabella in 2018.

Open Plaza Los jardines is a shopping center of 25,000 m² located in the Peruvian city of Trujillo, in the locality called Los Jardines, east of the Historic Centre of Trujillo. It belongs to Malls Peru is owned business unit of Falabella Perú. This mall, called format Power Center by the same company, is characterized by at least four local anchor present here as Sodimac and Tottus hypermarkets, smaller operators are also present around anchor stores such as Do it, Coolbox, Boticas BTL, Topitop, etc. and a food court and a Financial Boulevard. This mall was built on what was the former Los Jardines Hotel and it opened on December 3, 2008 with an investment of 26 million dollars. Open Plaza Los Jardines is the 5th mall that Malls Peru company has constructed in the country.

Disco is an Argentine supermarket chain. It is one of many supermarket chains part of the Chilean retail conglomerate Cencosud, after it was acquired from the Dutch retailer Ahold in 2004. In Argentina, Cencosud also owns the upscale hypermarket chain Jumbo and the budget oriented supermarket chain Vea.
