Toulon XIII Metropole Marlins are French rugby league side based in Toulon, in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur. Founded in 2011, their home matches are currently played at the Stade Delaune.
Founded on 16 July 2011 by Walid Kadir, Sporting Treiziste Toulonnais played their first match on 18 September 2011 against Marseille XIII Avenir at the Stade Jean Alex-Fernandez in Toulon winning 40-24. That first season in National Division 2 saw the club finish a respectful 5th. The following season 2012/13 they finished second behind Saint-Martin XIII and were promoted. They lasted just one season in National Division 1, losing their only to that date coach, former French international player Gael Tallec, who resigned. 2014/15 they bounced back immediately and were promoted back to National Division 1 as champions. This time they stayed up finishing 6th. [1] [2] In 2017 they beat US Trentels XIII 28-24 to lift the Paul Dejean Cup. They were promoted to the Elite Two Championship for the 2018-19 season. [3] For the 2019-20 season, the club launched a reserve team competing in the Federal championship. [4] The club withdrew its team from the Elite 2 at the start of the 2021-22 season [5] and forfeited a place in the National Division the following season. [6]
Despite their short history Toulonnais have already used three stadiums. From 2011-2013 they played at Stade Jean Alex-Fernandez. They are based at Stade Leo-Lagrange and Stade Delaune. [7]

The Saint-Gaudens Bears are a professional rugby league club based in the town of Saint-Gaudens, in the Haute-Garonne region of south-western France. They play in the Super XIII. The club was formed in 1958. They have won the French rugby league championship on four occasions and lifted the Lord Derby Cup three times. Their home ground is the Stade Jules Ribet.
Villefranche XIII Aveyron is a semi-professional rugby league club based in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Aveyron in southern France. Formed in 1950, they currently play in the Super XIII. Their home stadium is currently the Stade Henri Lagarde.
Super XIII is the top level rugby league competition in France, sanctioned by the French Rugby League Federation. The season runs from September to April, which is in contrast to the majority of other major domestic rugby league competitions worldwide. The clubs play each other home and away then they enter into a play-off series culminating with a Grand Final. The competition was founded in 2002, as the Elite One Championship and renamed as Super XIII at the start of the 2024–2025 season. The competition is the continuation of the French Rugby League Championship, which began in 1934.
The French rugby league system is a four tiered structure with the major national club competition being the Super XIII. Below this is Elite 2 and a number of regional leagues. The teams in each competition can change each year depending on final standings and relegation/promotion.
Elite 2 is the second tier semi-professional rugby league competition in France below Super XIII, but above the National Division 1. The season runs from September to April. The clubs play each other home and away before entering into a series of play-off matches resulting in a Grand Final. The winners can gain promotion to Super XIII providing they meet a minimum criteria. Occasionally the runners-up could be offered promotion.

Association Sports Clairacaise XIII who are more commonly known as AS Clairac XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Clairac, Lot-et-Garonne in the Aquitaine region. The club plays in the National Division 2 Aquitaine regional league, which is the 4th tier of Rugby League in France. Home games are played at the Stade Vivens.
Union Sportive Entraigues XIII are a rugby league team based in Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue in the region of Vaucluse in the south-west of France. They play in the National Division 1 the third tier of rugby league in France. Their home ground is the Stade Georges Mauro.
The 2012–13 Top 14 competition was a French domestic rugby union club competition operated by the Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR). Two new teams from the 2011–12 Pro D2 season were promoted to Top 14 this year, Grenoble and Stade Montois in place of the two relegated teams, CA Brive and Lyon OU. Home-and-away play began on 17 August 2012 and continued through to 5 May 2013. The regular season was followed by a three-round playoff involving the top six sides. The final was contested at the Stade de France between Toulon and Castres; the match was won 19–14 by Castres to earn them their first title since the controversial final in 1993.

The 2018–19 Coupe de France Lord Derby was the 81st edition of the Coupe de France Lord Derby, the premier rugby league knockout competition in France. It began on 25 November 2018 and ended with the final at the Stade Gilbert Brutus on 9 June 2019.
The 2023–24 Elite One Championship was the 89th season of France's domestic rugby league competition and the 23rd season known as the Elite 1 championship.
