Tower House is a former military headquarters building in Fishergate, York, England.
The building, which was designed in the Victorian style, was opened as the headquarters of the North-Eastern Military District in October 1878. [1] [2] It became the headquarters of Northern Command in 1905. [3] The Fishergate site was named Imphal Barracks in 1951, but closed in 1958, when Northern Command HQ moved to a new Imphal Barracks on Fulford Road, York. [3] The former headquarters at Fishergate was restored and refurbished as a business centre in the early 1990s. [4] It is described as a "building of merit" in the local conservation area appraisal. [5]

Purfleet-on-Thames is a town in the Thurrock unitary authority, Essex, England. It is bordered by the A13 road to the north and the River Thames to the south and is within the easternmost part of the M25 motorway but just outside the Greater London boundary. It was within the traditional Church of England parish of West Thurrock. Some industry is located to the south and the area forms part of the Thames Gateway redevelopment area. Purfleet is one of seven conservation areas in Thurrock.
Fishergate is an area of York, England. It is situated directly south of the City Walls, on the east bank of the River Ouse, north of Fulford. On its north-west corner is the confluence point of the Foss and the Ouse. This area is protected from floods by the Foss Barrier. The area between the River Ouse and Fishergate is part of the New Walk. In Anglian times the area was the city's major manufacturing and trading centre. Archaeological finds in 1985–6 included traces of 8th–9th century timber buildings and metals, bone and leather representative of the industrial activity in the area.
Cavalry Barracks is a British Army installation located north of Hounslow Heath in Hounslow, west London. Hounslow was one of 40 new barracks established around the country in the wake of the French Revolution, to guard against the dual threats of foreign invasion and domestic sedition. The barracks later became a busy depot for the London military district. It is described by Historic England as 'one of the most significant and complete barracks in the country'.

4th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters North East, previously known as 4th Mechanized Brigade is a brigade formation of the British Army, currently based in Catterick, North Yorkshire as part of 1st Division. The brigade, now known as the 'Black Rats', was formed in 1939 and fought in the Second World War in the Western Desert Campaign in North Africa. The Black Rats were subsequently involved in the invasion of Sicily and fighting in Italy before taking part in the Battle of Normandy and the advance through Belgium, Holland and into Germany.

Aldershot Garrison, also known as Aldershot Military Town, is a major garrison in South East England, located between Aldershot and Farnborough in Hampshire. Established in 1854, Aldershot is the home of the British Army although smaller than in previous years. The garrison was established when the War Department bought a large area of land near to the village of Aldershot, with the objective of establishing a permanent training camp for the British Army. Over time, this camp grew into a military town and continues to be used by the Army to the present day. It is home to the headquarters of the Army's Support Command, and it is also the administrative base for the 101st Logistic Brigade. The garrison plays host to around 70 military units and organisations.

Lendal Tower is a medieval tower that formed part of the city defences of York, England. It is located on the east bank of the River Ouse at the point where the river enters the walled city from the north-west. The building was used as a waterworks from 1616 until 1846 after which it was converted into offices. It has since been turned into rental accommodation.
