Tradermade is a UK-based company selling financial software, data (FIX, REST), charting, and electronic trading. The company specialises in the foreign exchange market. [1]

Electronic trading platform

An electronic trading platform, also known as an online trading platform, is a website or computer program with a graphical user interface used to trade financial assets via an electronic communication network, stock exchange, alternative trading system, crossing network, or dark pool with a financial intermediary such as a stockbroker, investment bank, or broker-dealer, or directly with market makers or other participants. Financial products commonly traded include stocks, bonds, currency, exchange-traded funds, commodities, and derivatives. Such platforms allow transactions to be executed from any location and are in contrast to trading via open outcry.

The foreign exchange market is a global decentralized or over-the-counter (OTC) market for the trading of currencies. This market determines the foreign exchange rate. It includes all aspects of buying, selling and exchanging currencies at current or determined prices. In terms of trading volume, it is by far the largest market in the world, followed by the Credit market.

Cloud computing form of Internet-based computing that provides shared computer processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand

Cloud computing is the on demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage and computing power, without direct active management by the user. The term is generally used to describe data centers available to many users over the Internet. Large clouds, predominant today, often have functions distributed over multiple locations from central servers. If the connection to the user is relatively close, it may be designated an edge server.

Technical analysis security analysis methodology

In finance, technical analysis is an analysis methodology for forecasting the direction of prices through the study of past market data, primarily price and volume. Behavioral economics and quantitative analysis use many of the same tools of technical analysis, which, being an aspect of active management, stands in contradiction to much of modern portfolio theory. The efficacy of both technical and fundamental analysis is disputed by the efficient-market hypothesis which states that stock market prices are essentially unpredictable.

Stockbroker professional who buys and sells shares and other securities for both retail and institutional clients

A stockbroker, share broker, registered representative, trading representative, or more broadly, an investment broker, investment adviser, financial adviser, wealth manager, or investment professional is a regulated broker, broker-dealer, or Registered Investment Adviser who may provide financial advisory and investment management services and execute transactions such as the purchase or sale of stocks and other investments to financial market participants in return for a commission, markup, or fee, which could be based on a flat rate, percentage of assets, or hourly rate. Examples of professional designations held by individuals in this field, which affects the types of investments they are permitted to sell and the services they provide include Chartered Financial Consultants, Certified Financial Planners or Chartered Financial Analysts, Chartered Strategic Wealth Professionals, Chartered Financial Planners, and Master of Business Administration. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) provides an online tool designed to help understand professional designations in the United States.

TraderMade also has trained financial analysts who provide high-frequency intraday market commentary and real-time news services to subscribers.

TraderMade software is designed and developed in the UK.

History

The company was founded in 1984 as a privately held company.

Privately held company business company owned either by non-governmental organizations or by a relatively small number of shareholders or company members, and the companys capital stock is offered, owned and traded or exchanged privately

A privately held company, private company, or close corporation is a business company owned either by non-governmental organizations or by a relatively small number of shareholders or company members which does not offer or trade its company stock (shares) to the general public on the stock market exchanges, but rather the company's stock is offered, owned and traded or exchanged privately or over-the-counter. More ambiguous terms for a privately held company are closely held corporation, unquoted company, and unlisted company.

Since 1984, TraderMade has collected, cleaned and maintained currency market data so that its products have access to a historical market data set which has a high frequency (minute bar) currency (FX) data back into the 1980s. [7]

The company also provides high-frequency tick feed, including historical tick data going back several years.

In 2014, TraderMade licensed VB-and Java-based versions of its software for desktop charting to third parties.

Java (programming language) Object-oriented programming language

Java is a general-purpose programming language that is class-based, object-oriented, and specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible. It is intended to let application developers "write once, run anywhere" (WORA), meaning that compiled Java code can run on all platforms that support Java without the need for recompilation. Java applications are typically compiled to "bytecode" that can run on any Java virtual machine (JVM) regardless of the underlying computer architecture. The syntax of Java is similar to C and C++, but it has fewer low-level facilities than either of them. As of 2018, Java was according to GitHub one of the most popular programming languages in use, particularly for client-server web applications, with a reported 9 million developers.

Products and services

Financial Market Data

We provide currency data to financial institutions and traders through a Financial Information eXchange (FIX) feed and a REST API. Our Interbank data feed is sourced from Tier-One banks & institutions, it includes 40+ spot currencies plus Gold and Silver.

The Financial Information eXchange (FIX) protocol is an electronic communications protocol initiated in 1992 for international real-time exchange of information related to securities transactions and markets. With trillions of dollars traded annually on the NASDAQ alone, financial service entities are investing heavily in optimizing electronic trading platforms and employing direct market access (DMA) to increase their speed to financial markets. Managing the delivery of trading applications and keeping latency low increasingly requires an understanding of the FIX protocol.

Desktop charting

The Java-based version is a Cloud/SaaS product which runs on any platform (for example Windows, Unix, Linux, macOS) with an internet connection and supporting the Java run-time framework. The VB version is Microsoft Windows desktop-only with data being saved on the local computer. Market data displayed within the charting applications is supplied by TraderMade or is imported manually by the user.

White label charting

TraderMade have three different charting solutions that can be integrated within third-party applications or websites. These are developed in Java, Silverlight and HTML/HTML5. White label charts can use real-time data supplied by the platform, or use TraderMade's historical data.

News and Commentary

TraderMade produce intra-day commentary & strategy on 42 of the global currency markets. This is supplemented by news and technical alerts generated in real-time by technical analysts and monitoring algorithms. Much of the news and commentary is available using web APIs.

Direct market access(DMA) is a term used in financial markets to describe electronic trading facilities that give investors wishing to trade in financial instruments a way to interact with the order book of an exchange. Normally, trading on the order book is restricted to broker-dealers and market making firms that are members of the exchange. Using DMA, investment companies and other private traders use the information technology infrastructure of sell side firms such as investment banks and the market access that those firms possess, but control the way a trading transaction is managed themselves rather than passing the order over to the broker's own in-house traders for execution. Today, DMA is often combined with algorithmic trading giving access to many different trading strategies. Certain forms of DMA, most notably "sponsored access", have raised substantial regulatory concerns because of the possibility of a malfunction by an investor to cause widespread market disruption.
