Transcendent is an American reality television series that premiered on September 30, 2015 on Fuse. [1] It focuses on the personal and professional relationships of a group of transgender women who perform at AsiaSF, a San Francisco nightclub.
In 2015, Fuse announced a plan to expand from their core music programming. [2] Transcendent was first announced as one of several new fall 2015 shows. [3] [4] The show is produced by World of Wonder, which produces a series about Big Freedia for Fuse. [5] [6] They gave a sneak peek at the Television Critics Association. [7]
The series originally aired on September 30, 2015. [8] [9] "Fuse, which targets Millennials ages 18-34 and recently re-launched, had the top original series premieres in its history for that group with Transcendent." [10]
When the trailer came out, one reviewer said "It looks to be equal parts I Am Cait-style heartwarming drama about the lives and struggles of trans women, and trashy ensemble reality show in the style of the Real Housewives." [11] Another said "The show is funny, personal and highlights the joys and struggles of being transgender." [12]

RuPaul's Drag Race is an American reality competition television series, the first in the Drag Race franchise, produced by World of Wonder for Logo TV, WOW Presents Plus, VH1 and, beginning with the fifteenth season, MTV. The show documents RuPaul in the search for "America's next drag superstar". RuPaul plays the role of host, mentor, and head judge for this series, as contestants are given different challenges each week. Contestants are judged by a panel that includes RuPaul, Michelle Visage, one of three rotating judges, as well as one or more guest judges, who critique their progress throughout the competition. The title of the show is a play on drag queen and drag racing, and the title sequence and song "Drag Race" both have a drag-racing theme.

Freedia has been credited with helping popularize the genre, which had been largely underground since developing in the early 1990s.

Honey Mahogany is an American activist, politician, drag performer, and singer. She first came to national attention on the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, followed by releasing her debut EP Honey Love. She was instrumental in setting up The Transgender District in San Francisco, where she served as the first director. In 2024, Mahogany was appointed director of the San Francisco Office of Transgender Initiatives.
Monica Dejesus-Anaya, known by the stage persona Monica Beverly Hillz, is an American drag queen, reality television personality and transgender activist best known for appearing on the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2013, as well as for returning in 2023 on the eighth season of RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars. She was the second contestant in the show's history to come out as a transgender woman, on the show, after Sonique Kylie Love of season 2. Hillz came-out during the judges' critiques for that episode's main challenge; her coming-out was especially historic, as it was a first for network television or a reality competition show.

Zackary Drucker is an American multimedia artist, cultural producer, LGBT activist, actress, and television producer. She is an Emmy-nominated producer for the docu-series This Is Me, a consultant on the TV series Transparent, and is based out of Los Angeles. Drucker is an artist whose work explores themes of gender and sexuality and critiques predominant two-dimensional representations. Drucker has stated that she considers discovering, telling, and preserving trans history to be not only an artistic opportunity but a political responsibility. Drucker's work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and film festivals including but not limited to the 2014 Whitney Biennial, MoMA PS1, Hammer Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the Hammer Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
I Am Cait is an American television documentary series which chronicles the life of Caitlyn Jenner after her gender transition. The eight-part one-hour documentary series debuted on July 26, 2015, on the E! network. The series focuses on the "new normal" for Jenner, exploring changes to her relationships with her family and friends. The show additionally explores how Jenner adjusts to what she sees as her job as a role model for the transgender community.

Kylie Sonique Love, formerly known as Sonique, is an American entertainer, singer, dancer, model and reality television personality. She rose to prominence as a contestant on the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2009, and achieved further popularity by winning the sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars eleven years later in 2021. Love was the first person to ever come out as transgender on any reality TV show. Upon winning All Stars 6, Love became the second transgender winner in the Drag Race franchise and was the first trans woman to win an American series of Drag Race. Additionally, in 2020, she co-hosted Translation Season 1, the first talk show on a major network hosted by an all-trans cast. Her first single, "Santa, Please Come Home", was released in 2018.
The TransLatina Coalition, stylized as the TransLatin@ Coalition, is a national, Los Angeles–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity advocacy group that works on behalf of transgender Latina women who are immigrants to the United States. It established and runs the Center for Violence Prevention and Transgender Wellness and works with policymakers and organizations to advance advocacy and resource support for transgender Latinas. Its staff consists of leaders from across the United States who have specific experience in meeting the needs of transgender Latinas intersecting with public health, education, and social justice, with representation in over 11 U.S. states, Washington D.C., and Mexico City, with over seven organized chapters.
