Treenighedskirkens Drengekor (Trinity Church's Boys Choir) is a Danish boys choir founded in Trinity Church, Esbjerg in 1964. The choir has performed widely in Denmark, the rest of Europe and in North America.

History

Per Günther, the church organist, founded the choir in 1964 and led it until he retired in 1969. Since then, it has been supported by Esbjerg Municipality and Esbjerg's Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in collaboration with the church. Today it consists of 50 singers, boys starting at the age of 8 or 9. The choir gives performances of classical church music both at home and abroad. Venues have included St Peters, Rome, Notre Dame de Paris and Westminster Abbey. Their tour to the United States in 2013 included concerts in New York, New Haven and Boston. [1] Their concerts have also been widely broadcast on radio and television, not only in Denmark but in Europe and North America. [2] The choir has also made numerous recordings. [3]

Conductor

Since 1990, the choir has been directed by Lone Gislinge (born 1958), a graduate of Esbjerg's Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Her repertoire with the choir has included Carl Nielsen's Hymnus Amoris, Vivaldi's Gloria, Dvořák's Mass in D major, and Rutter's Mass of the Children. Gislinge is also the founder and leader of the Esbjerg's girls choir Konservatoriets Pigekor. [4]

The Church of the Ascension is an Anglo-Catholic parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago. Founded in 1857 as a mission of St. James Church, it is now located on N. LaSalle Blvd. on Chicago's Near North Side. The church became a part of the Anglo-Catholic movement in 1869. St. Paul's Choir School is a Catholic choir school located at the Church of St. Paul, Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1963, the middle school for boys in third through eighth grades is the only boys' choir school in the United States of America affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The King's Consort is a prominent British period music orchestra founded in 1980 by the English conductor and harpsichordist Robert King. Saint Peter's Singers (SPS) is a chamber choir associated with Leeds Minster, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England that celebrated during the Season 2017/2018 the fortieth anniversary of the choir's formation by Harry Fearnley in 1977. An anniversary concert took place at Leeds Minster on Sunday 25 June 2017 with the National Festival Orchestra and soloists Kristina James, Joanna Gamble, Paul Dutton and Quentin Brown. Further anniversary year events included Bach Cantatas and Music for Christmas at Fulneck Church in August and December respectively, Handel Coronation Anthems at Holy Trinity, Boar Lane as part of the Leeds Handel Festival in September and a tour of East Anglia in October. In November at Leeds Town Hall, the Singers participated in Herbert Howells's masterpiece Hymnus Paradisi with Leeds Philharmonic Chorus and Leeds College of Music Chorale under the direction of Dr David Hill with the Orchestra of Opera North. 2018 began with a concert of Sacred Choral Masterworks at Leeds Town Hall in February and Bach's Mass in B minor at Leeds Minster on Good Friday 2018 in memory of long-serving member Jan Holdstock. The final concert of the current season takes place at Leeds Minster on Sunday 24 June at Leeds Minster at 5.30. At this event will be presented the first performance of a new work from composer Philip Moore commissioned for the Singers' 40th anniversary – the motet Tu es Petrus – along with music by E W Naylor, Arvo Part, Sir Hubert Parry, Judith Bingham and Maurice Durufle. Simon Lindley conducts and the organist is David Houlder.

Esbjerg Place in Southern Denmark, Denmark

Esbjerg is a seaport town and seat of Esbjerg Municipality on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark. By road, it is 71 kilometres (44 mi) west of Kolding and 164 kilometres (102 mi) southwest of Aarhus. With an urban population of 72,168 it is the fifth-largest city in Denmark, and the largest in west Jutland.

Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (Esbjerg)

Syddansk Musikkonservatorium - Danish National Academy of Music, as it is now known, is located in Esbjerg, Denmark, opposite St Nikolaj Church. Founded in 1946 as a local private initiative, it was first known as Vestjysk Musikkonservatorium. In 1972, it was taken over by the national authorities.

Esbjerg Performing Arts Centre

The Esbjerg Performing Arts Centre is a concert hall with theatrical facilities in the centre of Esberg in southwest Jutland, Denmark. Completed in 1997 to designs by the Utzons, it forms part of a complex which also contains the Esbjerg Art Museum. Its two auditoriums host classical concerts and drama productions.

Trinity Church, Esbjerg church in Esbjerg

Trinity Church is a modern church in Esbjerg in the southwest of Jutland, Denmark. Designed by local architects Erik Flagstad Rasmussen and Knud Thomsen, the yellow-brick building with large triangular stained-glass windows was completed in 1961.

Holy Trinity Church, Southport Church in Merseyside, England

Holy Trinity Church is on Hoghton Street, Southport, Sefton, Merseyside, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Liverpool and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The church was built during the early years of the 20th century, and was designed by Huon Matear in free Decorated style. It is constructed mainly in red brick, and has a tower, the upper parts of which are in elaborately decorated stone. Many of the internal furnishings are by the Bromsgrove Guild.
