Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss is the sixth studio album by American rapper Snoop Dogg. It was released on November 26, 2002, by his Doggystyle label, alongside Priority and Capitol Records. Following his departure from the No Limit Records, he later signed a recording contract to Capitol through Priority Records. Das EFX is an American hip hop duo. It consists of emcees Dray and Skoob. They named themselves "DAS" standing for "Dray and Skoob" and "EFX" meaning "effects". They rose to popularity in the early 1990s due to the duo's stream of consciousness lyrical delivery, which became one of the most influential lyrical styles in rap music at the time; as well as their affiliation with EPMD's Hit Squad. Their style combined intricate rhymes, sometimes mixed with made up words, delivered with a fast-paced flow and numerous pop culture and hip hop culture references.

The album peaked at #63 on the Billboard 200 and at #10 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in the United States. Its lead single, "This Iz Real", peaked at #84 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and #26 on the Hot Rap Songs.
"You're the One" is a song recorded by American female R&B vocal trio SWV for their second studio album, New Beginning (1996). RCA Records released the song on March 29, 1996, as the lead single from New Beginning. "You're the One" topped the US Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart and became a top-10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and in New Zealand, receiving gold certifications in both countries. A sample of this song can be heard in South Korean boy group EXO's song "Ya Ya Ya" from their seventh studio album, Obsession (2019).

Recording sessions took place at The Hit Factory and Sound on Sound Studios in New York and at Criteria Studios in Miami. Production was handled by SPKilla, Ez Elpee, The Neptunes, Trackmasters, Anthony Barners, Charly "Suga Bear" Charles, Jamal Edgerton, Mannie Fresh and Swizz Beatz. It features guest appearances from Musaliny-N-Maze, Final Chapter, Goldfingaz, Juvenile, Kelis, Lil' Wayne, Mike B., Missy Elliott, Scarlet O'Harlem and Troy Outlaw. The album debuted at number 9 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in the United States. On October 27, 1999, it received a Gold status by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling 500,000 certified units.
"Live and Die For Hip Hop" is a song by American rap duo Kris Kross, released as the second and final single from their third album, Young, Rich & Dangerous (1996). It is their ninth and final single overall, and features rap stars Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri, Mr. Black and background vocals by R&B star Aaliyah. The song contains a sample of "Baby Come to Me" by Regina Belle. It was not as successful as "Tonite's tha Night", however it did gain some success, making it to #72 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #11 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. A remix was made featuring DJ Clark Kent.

The song was written and produced by Ice-T and Santiago "San Man" Sanguillen. The single peaked at number 83 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number 23 on the Hot Rap Songs charts in the United States, and also reached number 23 and number 43 in the UK and Switzerland respectively. "I Must Stand" was later included in the rapper's greatest hits album Greatest Hits: The Evidence.
Beat of Life Vol. 1 is the second album by Polish-born German hip hop producer DJ Tomekk. It was released on in late 2002 through Modul/BMG. Produced entirely by Tomekk and Thomas Schmidt, it features guest appearances from German musicians Trooper Da Don, G-Style, MC Spontan, Sandra Nasić, Shadee, Tatwaffe, Clumsy & Shegun, as well as American hip hop acts, such as the Perverted Monks, The Beatnuts, Ice-T, Kurupt, Lil' Kim, Trigga tha Gambler, Fatman Scoop, and Jamaican recording artist Prezident Brown. The album peaked at number 55 in Germany. It was supported by two charted singles: "Kimnotyze" and "Beat of Life".
