Triumph Hotels is a collection of historic boutique hotels in New York City [1] which includes the Hotel Belleclaire (a designated landmark in Manhattan), [2] The Iroquois Hotel and the Hotel Edison. [3] Famous past guests have included James Dean, [4] Abraham Lincoln [5] and Mark Twain. [6] The hotel brand is co-owned by Gerald Barad and Shimmie Horn. [7]
James Dean lived in the Iroquois (which now features The James Dean Suite), [8] which also served as the headquarters of The National Council of the Arts, Sciences and Professionals in 1949. [9] The seminal British punk band the Clash wrote the song Rock the Casbah while staying at the Iroquois. [10]
Hotel Edison's namesake Thomas Edison turned on the lights at the hotel's grand opening and both the building and its restaurants have since been featured in several films, including The Godfather , Bullets Over Broadway and Birdman . [11]

Thomas Edison turned on the lights when it opened. It accommodated 1,000 guests on 26 floors and offered three restaurants. It attempted to mimic the telephone number PEnnsylvania 6-5000 of the Hotel Pennsylvania by using the telephone exchange name CIrcle 6-5000. Herbert J. Krapp was the architect, and Milton J. Kramer was the original owner. The hotel's ballroom was used as the Broadway theatres Arena Theatre in 1950 and as the Edison Theatre from 1972 until 1991, when it was converted back into a ballroom.

5 West 54th Street is a commercial building in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. It is along 54th Street's northern sidewalk between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. The four-story building was designed by R. H. Robertson in the Italian Renaissance Revival style and was constructed between 1897 and 1899 as a private residence. It is the easternmost of five consecutive townhouses erected along the same city block during the 1890s, the others being 7, 11, 13 and 15 West 54th Street. The first floor is clad with rusticated blocks of limestone, while the other floors contain buff-colored brick trimmed with limestone.
